On Planet Griffin, are straight couples campaigning for the right to marry, straight parents frowned upon everywhere save for a few trendy London boroughs?
Moreover, are schoolchildren thoughtlessly taunting each other with slang such as: "That's just straight"? Are some of these children committing suicide rather than facing coming out as "non-gay"?
Is there is a culture in film and TV for there to be a token straight, who spouts straight cliches and affects straight mannerisms and has little else to do but be an amusing straight best friend for the lead gay characters to bounce off?

and yet… ever since lord fagburn put that link to the bnp's gay under belly and i went down that rabbit hole emerging into a new strange world of far right forums of different factions, i've been poleaxed by how gay tolerant-ish it is, or not excessively homophobic, or at least only moderately hateful, or even, fuck me, open to it! frankly i've seen worse on mail online and telegraph comments; heard worse around guardian readers with a few pints in 'em.
ReplyDeleteseriously, there is sooo many exotic tendencies* on display or suspected amongst that lot they kind of privately amongst themselves just roll their eyes and are just thankful it's not peadophilia.
i can't stress enough how strangely fascinating their forums are, so much psychological drama. they're constantly paranoid -- rightly -- that their leaders and members are spies from mi5, police, searchlight, mossad, reds; or that they're being sold out by the leadership and milked for funds; they accuse each other of being nonces -- there have been high profile convictions for this; or accuse each over of being closet cases. i almost feel sorry for them they rightly can't trust anyone. the jig is just about up. this is griffs last gasp he's desperate. but it's fake ass theatrics, there's no real appetite for homophobia (they're defending us from those homophobic pesky sharia muslims remember!) or for griffin laughably upholding christian values like some cyclopian mary whitehouse. it's farce. the curtain is closing.
*liverpool's fascist scene is particularly bizarre with a prominent openly gay peter stafford and his fascist casting couch, and then there's tony "hammerhead" ward: a self-defined non-transitioning transexual; a racist thug who has a chinese wife who he married so that she couldn't breed -- he's also suspected of being a jew (he lived in israel and helped build IDF war planes). the secret jew allegation is frequently and widely deployed. anyway i'd like to thank these people for the entertainment they gave me.
