Joe McElderry: An Early Outing

Bit embarrassing for The News of The World today.
In a small piece welcoming Joe McElderry back to the world of Pop, Dan Wooton - the self-styled "Showbiz reporter of the year" no less - offers an apology; "I gave Joe McElderry a hard time when he disappeared for ages after winning X Factor."
You certainly did, but Fagburn seems to remember you did a bit more than that.
Rather handily, the online version of today's NOTW links to an innuendo-laden NOTW gossip item about Joe from July, where Dan Wooton looks distinctly like he is trying to out the then still closeted singer; 'Hey Joe! Where Are You?'
"WANTED... It's time for Joe to come out of hiding."
"It's been seven long months since the Geordie teen won the talent competition and there's no sign of any tunes from him."
"So today I'm launching a Wanted campaign to drag him out and get him on the showbiz circuit before it's too late.
"... An insider said; 'Joe's a lovely kid, but there's a growing feeling he's not going to be a big pop star. People believe he'll end up on the West End stage within a couple of years.'
"...And after revealing he was straight after winning the title in December, there's been no romance for Joe. What 19 year-old bloke with girls throwing themselves at him would down the opportunity for even one cheeky snog?"

  1. Joe's single went in at a very disappointing number 6.
