Right on cue and scummy as ever, The Daily Mail's resident gay Uncle Tom, Andrew Pierce, tries to go dirt digging on Nigel Evans.
He doesn't find any.
There are no real revelations here; much of the information was in Evans' coming out piece in the Mail On Sunday in 2010.
Loved his mum, loved Thatcher, never married, never had a long-term boyfriend, deeply closeted, voted against some gay equality legislation, allegedly prompted to come out "when an unnamed Labour MP threatened to go public about his sexuality", blah blah blah.
The only thing that was news to Fagburn was this;
The first public suggestion that Evans was living a lie came in an article in Private Eye in 1993, which said he had been seen ‘canoodling’ with a young man in his ground-floor flat near Victoria in central London. Evans angrily telephoned the editor Ian Hislop to deny the story, but the report was well sourced and there was no retraction or apology.
If true, this reflects pretty badly on Private Eye.
Oh and there's this;
For many years, his homosexuality was one of the worst-kept secrets at Westminster. He counted among his friends Paul Burrell, who was Princess Diana’s butler and has a colourful private life.
And on that bombshell...
Like many papers, the Mail also seem rather keen on publishing photos that make Evans look slightly ridiculous.
PS Today's Daily Mirror headline; 'Nigel Evans: Rape accused Tory uses make-up to disguise forehead bruise as he faces cameras to deny claim'.
Please drop me a line if you can see how this is relevant to anything.
[Update: Tuesday's Sun lays on the innuendo; 'Bruise
on my head came from Chinatown rub-down']
PPS And in other gripping gay Tory news, Mr Pierce claims Christopher Biggins is a new patron of LGBTory.
He also slips in a joke about "fags", but it's okay, he's saying that as a fag himself.

ReplyDeleteSays Fagburn!
Heres a man, who has unprotected sex with 7 men and then he cries wolf, cos he got caught short.
ReplyDeleteDoes this man really represent the British public in todays society!
