Tyson Fury: I'm Gay
Daily Telegraph.
When a journalist begins an article with some variation on; 'As a gay man...', it's a pretty good guarantee it's going to be an Aunty Tom Andrew Pierce-like stinker.
PS I was going to stop posting about Mr Fury, I apolgise unreservedly etc etc.

Ian McKellen: The Director's Cut
Labour luvvie Sir Ian McKellen is the highest-profile celebrity so far to come out for Ed Miliband.
The Oscar-nominated actor yesterday said he was impressed by the party's manifesto for lesbian, gay and transgender people.
I wonder what he makes of Miliband's pledge to eradicate tax avoidance?
McKellen, like many artistes, is sole director of his own company, Kirikiri, through which he channels his earnings.
Last year, the company had assets of £8.3 million, boosted by income from reprising his role as the wizard Gandalf the Grey in the Hobbit film trilogy.
Companies are tax efficient as they are subject to corporation tax of 20 per cent, rather than a top rate of income tax of 45 per cent on annual incomes of more than £150,000. Expenses incurred in the line of duty can be offset against profits.
Last year, McKellen — perfectly legally — took out a loan from his own company of £1.7 million.
One tax expert says: 'In the case of a loan to a director — provided a certain minimum rate of interest specified by HMRC is charged — the borrowing is not liable for tax. Such a measure is perfectly legal, but it allows those who take advantage of the mechanism to delay when they pay tax on income earned through their company — potentially indefinitely.' ...

Daily Mail.
Who else could the Mail get to write this but your actual gay Uncle Tom, Andrew Pierce?
Hmmm, I wonder if he 'll use his much-loved 'as a gay man...' line.
As a gay man in a civil partnership, I was often heckled and abused for opposing gay same-sex marriage.
I regard the law as a cynical political stunt by David Cameron in his misguided attempts to detoxify the Conservative brand and win new voters. He failed miserably - alienating countless core loyalists.
At the time the Bill was being debated in the Commons, I argued it could trigger a backlash against gay men and women if it was used to discriminate against those with strong views about why same-sex marriages are wrong.
The public was given repeated assurances that freedom of conscience would be respected if the law on marriage was changed. Those promises seem pretty hollow now.

Groundhog Gay: Damian Barr
New Statesman.
Every other month since the dawn of gay time someone has written an article asking this.
There is nothing interesting left to say about the subject - as Mr Barr shows.
And why is the New Statesman publishing this?
It's basically Damian Barr pushing his 250 page love letter to Margaret Thatcher, Maggie & Me.
Next week in the NS: Andrew Pierce asks is drag sexist.

Andrew Pierce: Michael Cashman
Talking of second-raters, the rumour is that former EastEnders actor Michael Cashman - the first openly gay character in a TV soap - is to be elevated by Ed Miliband to a peerage in this new intake.
After his TV career faded when he left the soap in 1989, Cashman became a Labour MEP and gay rights activist.
Aptly named, he was embroiled in controversy in 2008 when it emerged he was paying his civil partner Paul Cottingham £30,000 a year of taxpayers’ money as an ‘accounts manager, personnel manager and payroll administrator’.

Pierce on Cashman is surely the unspeakable in full pursuit of the unelectable?
PS The charming Mr Pierce adds; 'I’m delighted Evan Davis is to be the new face of BBC2’s Newsnight in succession to Jeremy Paxman. Now that he’s leaving Radio 4’s Today programme, I can start listening to it again.'
Update: Oh and a book alleges the young Mr Cashman used to be a right-wing Tory - sounds like him and Andrew should be bosom buddies.

Daily Telegraph: Last Night's TV
The idea was to look at so-called “gay cures”, offered by some doctors and religious people who think they can turn gay people straight. The programme was, in essence, a stunt – Dr Christian Jessen, the gay doctor from Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies, would see if his homosexuality could be “cured”. And he would take Cornell University’s sexual orientation test at the beginning and the end, to see if the “cures” made any difference.
This was an admirably clear proposition for the programme, yet it suffered a fatal flaw right from the get-go: Jessen clearly had no desire to be “cured”, nor the faintest intention of changing his sexuality. It reminded me of the old joke: “How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, but the light bulb has got to really want to change.”
Jessen’s staunch and unflinching homosexuality made him, for these purposes, a bad journalist. (I should at this point loudly disclose my own homosexuality, which by the same token makes me a biased critic.)
And Jessen’s pretence of objectivity had another, more sinister consequence. The practice of gay “cures” presupposes that the practitioners believe homosexuality to be a disease or a disorder. In pretending to approach those cures on their own terms, the programme never said, loud and clear, that that belief is false and harmful. Indeed, large chunks of the programme effectively went along with the idea that homosexuality might have a “cause”, particularly in childhood, that can be “cured”. And for all the scared, closeted gay and lesbian teenagers watching at home, that is a truly disgraceful message for Channel 4 to allow.
Neil Midgley, Daily Telegraph.
Quite astonishing drivel!
Do you really think the point of the programme was to see if Dr Jessen would actually be cured of his homosexuality?
Why should a gay man make a programme about this bigoted voodoo quackery and not (pretend to) be partisan?
And as for 'I should at this point loudly disclose my own homosexuality', where do you start with such Andrew Pierce-esque Aunty Tomfoolery?
You could raise several criticisms of Cure Me, I'm Gay - the phrase 'Shooting bonkers evangelical Christian fish in a barrel of bonkers' springs to mind - but these are not among them.
This stupidity was obediently regurgitated by Queerty, without even noticing the Telegraph's notorious anti-gay bias.
Fagburn repeats: The gay media has ceased to exist in any meaningful sense if you repeat stories from the straight media without questioning or challenging them.
Disgraceful.
PS Dr Chris responds!

Chris Smith: Flood Damage
Following the floods fiasco in Somerset, Daily Mail attack-dog Andrew Pierce was unleashed from his kennel to do a hatchet job on hapless Environment Agency Chris Smith. He had no shortage of material, Lord Smith of Finsbury being gay, socialist, green, an ex-Islington councillor and a luvvie cum laude with a PhD in poetry.
Pierce swiftly bashed out the required 900 words - only for an urgent command to arrive from the 'Eagle's Nest', aka editor Paul Dacre's office on the third floor, instructing newsdesk lackeys to spike the piece. Other Mail columnists were also ordered to steer clear of Smith in their own pieces.
What conceivable reason might Dacre have wanting to keep on the right side of the former culture secretary? The possibility that Lord Smith must be kept sweet at all costs as he's lined up to be appointed chair of IPSO, the new Independent Press Standards Organisation, is of course too silly to contemplate!
Private Eye.
Update: Or does Lord Smith have plans to be the next BBC Chairman?

Daily Mail: Absolutely The Most Patronising Article Ever Written - Official!
Yet another relationship of hers has seemingly bitten the dust.
But Liz Hurley had just the thing to put a smile back on her face: a night out with another man, just days after the reported end of her engagement to former Australian cricketer Shane Warne.
For once, Liz wasn’t on the rebound. She sought solace from the kind of man every girl needs: a gay best friend.
In Liz’s case, that GBF was Elton John’s partner, David Furnish. And just like Liz, every time I’ve checked into Heartbreak Hotel I’ve relied on my own GBF: my fellow Daily Mail columnist, Andrew Pierce.
Where would I be without him? I shudder to think. Andrew is my twin soul, my confidant, my co-conspirator in good times and sad.
And there have been plenty of both in the 15 years we’ve been an ‘item’.
We met, auspiciously enough, at the Savoy Hotel’s American Bar (although he often tells me that we’d actually met once before at the Tory Party Conference)...

Fagburn: The First Worsts
Worst newspaper in the world.
The Independent. Unbelievably patronising dim-witted gay coverage, all seemingly written by posh straight interns who know fuck all about The Gays, and whose idea of research is typing 'gay' into Google News. Actually chose the "inventor" of a pink Union Jack as the tenth most important gayer in Britain! And don't even get me started on Tilda fucking Swinton and her stupid rainbow flag.
Worst journalist.
Patrick Strudwick. Pearl-clutching bed-wetting liberal idiot. Would accuse a pencil-case of being 'homophobic'. Literally incapable of writing an interesting sentence. Seems to think the main point of journalism is publishing photos of his grinning face (Sad "Boo-hoo squish squish sad face" also available).
Worst journalist in the world of gay.
They are both called Joe. This seems to be "a thing".
Worst journalist in the world of lesbian.

Paul Flowers: It's Political Correctness Gone Mad!
The Daily Mail's gay Uncle Tom, Andrew Pierce, predictably sticks his oar in.
Also in the Mail today, their new star columnist Dominic Lawson writes; Just tick the right diversity boxes and, hey presto, you can run a major bank.
Eh?
The liberal conspiracy gets worse...
"But as a member of the ‘LGBT community’, Flowers can somehow be seen as part of an oppressed minority, whom it would be politically incorrect to denounce as a sexual predator..." etc etc.

Yeah, right, that's happened.
Fagburn can't recall seeing a single sentence defending Paul Flowers against the media lynch mob.
Lawson replaces Melanie Phillips - who left the Mail under something of a cloud recently.
Oddly Phillips has written a rather similar article about Flowers for this week's Spectator; The Revd Paul Flowers ticked all the right 'progressive' boxes — that's why he could get away with anything.
Maybe it would have been easier for the Mail to keep Mad Mel on?
PS Another professional Tory shitbag, Toby Young (no relation), pipes up in the Daily Telegraph;
As for his crimes and misdemeanours, this is where the "smear" really does exceed a Tory spin doctor's wildest dreams. Fined for committing an act of gross indecency in a public toilet in 1981! Forced to resign as a Labour Councillor in 2011 when pornography was discovered on his computer! Caught red-handed by a national newspaper trying to buy crystal meth, crack cocaine and ketamine! Renowned for his use of prostitutes! Engaging in behaviour that even his former rent-boy described as "debauched"! The list goes on and on.
It certainly has the whiff of a smear – the most imaginative, brilliantly designed smear ever cooked up. Miliband's right about that. Trouble is, it's true...
Good to see Toby "Sniff Sniff" Young banging on about Paul Flowers' drug use here...

Andrew Pierce Watch: Attitude-Free
Publicly, David Cameron regards his decision to support gay marriage as one of the defining characteristics of his premiership.
Privately, however, he has confided to some of his closest advisers that the way it was implemented was one of the biggest political mistakes he has ever made because of the uproar it unleashed within his own party.
Cameron last week was invited to a glittering party at the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand to accept the Politician of the Year Award from gay magazine Attitude.
It was in honour of his ‘brave’ decision to push ahead with the same-sex marriage policy. But the Prime Minister politely declined the invitation because of pressure on his diary.
So did he send another senior Tory to accept the award on his behalf — party chairman Grant Shapps or Culture Secretary Maria Miller, who covers the equalities brief in the Cabinet?
No. Downing Street sent no one — which suggests he is only too aware his gay marriage policy has served as a recruiting agent for Ukip.
Instead, it was Ed Miliband who went up to receive an award. But poor old Ed. He wasn’t being crowned Politician of the Year — because Attitude rearranged the ceremony so that he collected the award on behalf of everyone who had voted for gay marriage...

Instead, it was Ed Miliband who went up to receive an award. But poor old Ed. He wasn’t being crowned Politician of the Year — because Attitude rearranged the ceremony so that he collected the award on behalf of everyone who had voted for gay marriage...
Please bear in mind Andrew "As a gay man, can I just say I hate anything gay..." Pierce's stories often turn out to be nonsense.
Especially when they are about David Cameron "regretting" introducing the whole gay marriage thing.
