Evan Davis: Slut Praising
This was the big scandal while we were away.
Evan Davis made a light-hearted passing reference on Newsnight to gay sluttery, and some gaybores went on Twitter and whined about it.
Wow!
PS Mind you the whole tedious storm in a dating app did inspire a rare moment of humour from Pink News.

Red Nose Day: Dancing Evan Davis
Our Evan, fillmed earlier, 'busting some serious moves' outside Broadcasting House for Comic Relief.
I wonder if that's how she dances at The Hoist?
Please give generously etc etc.

Guy Burgess: Stranger In Moscow
An interview recorded with Soviet spy Guy Burgess in Moscow in 1959 and lost for over 50 years has been discovered.
Recorded by Canada's CBC it is believed to be the only filmed interview with Burgess.
The notorious old poove appears to be very, very drunk.
More footage can be viewed on the BBC News website - a full report will be shown on Newsnight this evening. [Edit: 10.45 in here. LOL intro by Evan Davis; 'He was gay before it was allowed...']
PS Here's Benedict Cumberbatch as Burgess in The Turning Point. 1982 Newsnight feature on the opening of Another Country, with Rupert Everett as 'Guy Bennett'. Thought Alan Bennett's An Englishman Abroad would be on YouTube, but sadly no... [Edit: A devoted reader has pointed out it's on something called Vimto x].

Evan Davis: On Drugs
| The Independent. |
“Once gay people start taking drugs, they’ll take more drugs because it’s socially infectious and one person will take them, then another. I just think it’s something gay people have to watch out for.”
Further proof that drugs can do terrible things to the brain - mainly to people who don't take them.
The quotes come from an interview in the current issue of Attitude.

Russell Brand: The Revolution Will Not Be...
Russell Brand may have become the poster boy for people who love politics but hate politicians.
Tonight, however, he was forced into an old-fashioned political retreat when he cancelled a debate to launch his new book after guests including the leading human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell expressed concerns about the make-up of the panel.
Activist Laurence Easeman, who appeared with Brand on a recent video to highlight the plight of an under-threat community in London’s East End, had been due to join the panel at London’s Hoxton Docks to discuss the issues raised byRevolution – the comic’s treatise on the travails of the modern British body politic.
Mr Tatchell said he flagged up concerns with Brand having been alerted to a series of blog postings by others which, if accurate, would suggest that he and Mr Easeman may not share all the same political views...

Next stop... Russell meets our Owen!
People should storm the cinemas and pay nothing on Thursday for my chat with Russell Brand. And demand they give their workers a living wage
— Owen Jones (@OwenJones84) October 19, 2014
Only just realised this, OJ?
Why did you agree to speak there in the first place, then?
Johann Hari, Owen Jones, Morrissey, Peter Tatchell...
Can anyone explain this gay love-in with the great phoney Brand?
If Russell Brand is taken seriously as a left-wing thinker, then no wonder our movement's fucked.

PS Saint Peter interviews the even babier-faced Mr Jones in 2007!
UND! Russell Brand tries to go gay for his little missed TV show, RE; Brand. And here he is interviewing two flucks fom Westboro Baptist Church. The second's much better.
Update: Evan Davis does Russell on Newsnight.
'Evan, mate.. what a lot of people in your line of work misunderstand is that we don't want some pedagogic figure coming in and didactically shouting at us...' LOL!
Rather a lot of creepy, patronising touching there, Russell, would you do that to Paxman?
Mr Brand does come out of that quite well, for a raving idiot.
Fagburn thinks he'll do a David Icke before long.

Evan Davis: Tinsel Tits No More
Evan Davis takes issue with Jeremy Paxman, his Newsnight predecessor, who witheringly noted that the current affairs programme is now made by 13-year-olds. “I mean, they are shockingly young, but I put them more at 15 to 20-year-olds,” says Davis. “Still, they love their politics and they just know the answers to everything.”
By the way, while Evan wisely saw that he would have Mandrake to answer to if he had dispensed – in the manner of Robert Peston – with a tie when he presented Newsnight, what has not so far been acknowledged is that the affable 52-year-old broadcaster also took the line of least resistance on his collection of rings.
“I used to wear them, too, but now they have gone,” he told me at the launch of the new Sherlock Holmes exhibition at the Museum of London. “I don’t mind, though. The whole lot of them were only £5 from a shop on Kensington High Street.”

Evan Davis: Can You Imagine!!?
Then there are the inevitable comparisons with his predecessor. If Paxman was an attack dog, then Davis is more of a wolf in sheep’s clothing – or, as some tabloids point out, the kind of clothing that you might find down your local bar on a Saturday night (the subtext being that Davis is – shock horror! – gay). He has been photographed in low-slung jeans and skin-tight T-shirts that show a flash of tattoo and hint at rumoured intimate piercings.
But while this is all great fun – can you imagine John Humphrys wearing trousers so low they showed off his boxer shorts? – I am not quite sure what it’s got to do with his ability to grill a politician. It’s not as if he’s going to front his first show in a pair of leather chaps with a riding crop. Today, Davis is wearing a cardigan and jeans – he looks like a cool, metrosexual geography teacher, if such a thing exists.
“I’m just not Jeremy Paxman,” he says, “and it would be worse if I was trying to be Jeremy Paxman. I’m so not Jeremy Paxman.”

Question Of The Week: Evan Davis
The arrival of Evan Davis on BBC2’s Newsnight on September 29 is anxiously awaited. Why the anxiety? Because Newsnight, once a BBC powerhouse of political influence, is in a state of worrying decline. It has a small nightly audience, around 600,000. That wouldn’t matter if the audience were special and the guests the best. But top politicians and serious experts often scorn Newsnight now. Will the arrival of Davis be the start of a relaunch?
Ian Katz, Newsnight’s latest editor, arrived from the Guardian last year. Jeremy Paxman, roost ruler for 25 years, soon announced he would be leaving the programme, was persuaded to stay until this June. In August the BBC announced the new “lead anchor” would be Evan Davis, team member of Radio 4’s Today for the past six years...

I do hope so - anything will be better than bloody Paxman.
Tinsel Tits makes her Newsnight debut on Monday.
PS Fagburn sees 'Paxo' will be hosting Channel 4's general election coverage, Sadly, I appear to be washing my hair that night.

Andrew Pierce: Michael Cashman
Talking of second-raters, the rumour is that former EastEnders actor Michael Cashman - the first openly gay character in a TV soap - is to be elevated by Ed Miliband to a peerage in this new intake.
After his TV career faded when he left the soap in 1989, Cashman became a Labour MEP and gay rights activist.
Aptly named, he was embroiled in controversy in 2008 when it emerged he was paying his civil partner Paul Cottingham £30,000 a year of taxpayers’ money as an ‘accounts manager, personnel manager and payroll administrator’.

Pierce on Cashman is surely the unspeakable in full pursuit of the unelectable?
PS The charming Mr Pierce adds; 'I’m delighted Evan Davis is to be the new face of BBC2’s Newsnight in succession to Jeremy Paxman. Now that he’s leaving Radio 4’s Today programme, I can start listening to it again.'
Update: Oh and a book alleges the young Mr Cashman used to be a right-wing Tory - sounds like him and Andrew should be bosom buddies.

Evan Davis: The Creepy Bad Art Continueth!
The Sunday Times.
I'd sue.
Does it really matter if she's got her tits pierced? Not sure how this could impact on the interviewing lying politicians thing.
PS Quite baffling piece by Peter Preston in The Observer - almost certainly the worst and most inelegant person who's ever got paid for trying to put a sentence together.

And this week's winner is Sophie Tit-Gymkhana-Munch, who sent us this delightful portrait of Mr Evan Davis.
A liftetime at Leicester Square surely awaits.
Please bear (bare?) in mind it is the school holidays, so The Independent can only unemploy talentless 12 year-olds who know daddy.
And/orMrs Mr Lebedev.
All your wonderful paintings will be returned if they came with the appropriate postage. Except for the Rolf Harris ones.

Oh do duck off, you mass murdering closeted multi-millionaire austerirty-imposing gay killer crook.
'Weep for me while I weeped to the top of you and then pissed on you.'
Only the made-up 'Glass Closet' stood in this brave man's way...
FFS!
And an ahem really hard-hitting video interview with Scott Mills, the unthinking gay man's Evan Davis. Gawd knows why the Guardian got Mrs Mills to do this.

Evan Davis: Offers Young Latvian A Helping Hand
Can anyone give this lovely guy I met at a bbq yesterday a job? Hospitality perhaps? Or he has to return to Latvia pic.twitter.com/MJhBRfmUu9Lovely.
— Evan Davis (@EvanHD) August 25, 2013
Apparently, Latvia is unhappy at being besmirched by Tinsel Tits.
Update: I have been informed Constantin goes back to Latvia today - I also know whose house the "BBQ" was at, but can not divulge.
