BBC News: Sunday Quiz Fun Time

This > - 'Paris rally against gay marriage' - is currently the third story on the BBC News website - and the third or fourth on BBC News.

When was the last time the BBC gave so much coverage to a march about social policy in another country?

If your answer is 'Never', press the red button now.

PS In December, 60,00-150,000 people marched in Paris in support of gay marriage.
And the BBC's coverage was...
Think only The Guardian online even mentioned it.
Here's how to complain to the BBC.

  2. When BBC radio news led on Christmas Day with the Archbp of Westminster's latest condemnations, I could, as an ex-journalist, just about go along with that in so far as it was Controversy.

But what really went beyond the pale was the newsreader's adding that Nichols was urging people to write to their MPs in protest. That really is turning the BBC into Nichols' messenger-boy. Is the news editor a member of Opus Dei?

  3. Here's the BBCs reply. Must try harder.

I understand you feel the BBC’s coverage of the same-sex marriage proposals is biased against civil partnerships.

In dealing with any controversial matter the BBC is required to give a fair and balanced report. Balance cannot simply be judged on the basis of the time allocated to the story or either side of an argument however. Account also needs to be taken of the way a subject is covered over a period of time; perfect balance is difficult to achieve on every single occasion while overall it is a more achievable goal.

Nevertheless your feedback is very valuable to the BBC as it can help shape decisions about future programming and content.

I’d like to assure you that I’ve registered your concerns on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's made available to the programmes production team, members of the BBC Executive Board, programme makers, channel controllers and other senior managers.

Once again thank you for taking the time to get in touch

    1. That's... pretty meh, isn't it?
Think they need more nudging and maybe more breakdowns of their cumulative rubbishness on this.
