"Most people still oppose gay marriage and the adoption of children by same-sex couples, a Government report revealed yesterday.

The actual statement people were asked if they agreed with was; "homosexual marriages should be allowed throughout Europe", which is somewhat different.
44% said yes, 49% no - hardly a great divide.
And isn't this survey five years old?
A poll conducted for The Times two years ago showed 61% of British people approved of gay marriage.
So stop lying.
