"I regard marriage as an institution that has developed over many
centuries, essentially for the provision of a warm and safe environment
for the upbringing of children, which is clearly something that two
same-sex partners can't do."
The Guardian.
I've been trying to find some dirt on this creep, David Jones.
And apparently he's a homophobic Tory cunt.
As with how the story about Robbie Rogers' coming out yesterday soon became about how much support he was getting from other footballers, perhaps what's most noteworthy here is how Jones's views on gay adoption have seen him criticised by many on the Right, when they were once Tory Party orthodoxy.
David Cameron soon distanced himself from his comments - see the Daily Mail article, which also includes the original Welsh TV interview that Jones later did a distinctly half-hearted reverse ferret over.

The argument about marriage only being for those who can raise children is not only balls in relation to gay couples and clearly so, but it also suggests that whoever is making the argument would also like to see straight couples who have no children and no intention to raise any banned from marrying.
ReplyDeleteIt's complete and utter bullshit and shows how thick whoever makes such an argument must be.
One has the impression that there is a breed of person, especially of politician, whose mind is entirely unattuned to the idea of self-contradiction. You just say *this* where it seems called for and *that* where it seems politic, and if someone points out that the two assertions are not compatible--why, you a sort of intellectual Joseph K being tried according to standards you've never heard of.
