Steven Slater - An Economy Class Hero
Now here's an interesting one.
Fagburn has not found one news item about Steven Slater - the US trolley dolly who flipped out and jumped off a plane after being wound up one time too many by an arsey passenger - that is condemnatory.
Here's the story from today's Daily Mail, picked just because you might expect it to be the most judgmental.
He's even become something of a folk hero, with commemorative t-shirts and two Facebook tribute pages (this one is about to tip 100,000 supporters).
Like just about every news source, the Mail slipped in that Slater has a boyfriend.
Though, being a family newspaper, the Mail didn't mention that they were in bed together when the cops came calling.
And - according to some sources - had been shagging.
Steven Slater - for getting mad as hell and refusing to take it anymore - Fagburn too salutes you.

One of several sympathetic pieces bemoaning what cabin crew have to put up with.
ReplyDeleteThis one - once more surprisingly - from The Daily Telegraph.
"And the moral of the story? Never be rude to waiters or flight attendants, because apart from anything else, they serve your food."
