Whitsun: 50 Years On (Not 40 As Some Drunken Simpletons Have Suggested)

In 1971, the government abolished the Whitsun Bank Holiday, cause everyone was having too much fun.

    There was a rumour that big mods'n'rockers action was going to spill over into Luton and, as a cub reporter of The Luton News, I wandered around the town centre with my girl-friend (I wince) after coming out of the pictures, to see if any rioting was going on but it wasn't.
