This was genocide.
During this time, thousands of German men were arrested for homosexual acts, many were sent to prison or labour camps.
About the same number as were imprisoned in, say, the UK.
They were prosecuted under Paragraph 175 - introduced in 1871, this was not a 'Nazi law'.
Unlike Jews, they were not gassed or rounded up and shot.
Many men continued to be interred after the defeat of the Nazis, as were all 'criminals', just as gay men who'd broken the law were not freed in Britain and America after the war.
Note that the Nazis did not criminalise gay sex in countries they occupied where it was legal, such as France.
To suggest an equivalence between what the Nazis did to the Jews, and what happened to gay men, is morally obscene.

He was referring simply to the NUMBERS of people imprisoned for goodness sake. There was no comparison made as to how they were treated in either case.

ReplyDeleteThere is a direct equivalence between what the Nazis did to gays in Germany and what the UK, US and France, say, did to gays after the war. It's a matter of public record. In fact, many gay hysterics even try to claim that gays had it worse than the Jews because gay people continued to be imprisoned, treated as criminals and beneath contempt after the war by the "liberating forces".

It's shocking that this even needs to be pointed out: The Nazis tried to systematically eliminate an entire race of people by murdering them - men, women and children - in their millions.
Fagburn is right. To try and draw an equivalence between the two is morally obscene.

ReplyDeleteRead this more carefully. I see your point. I don't know much about it and try not to think about it but had the vague idea that whole sections of different people were treated in the same way, where actually from what you say here there was a huge difference.
