The Independent: Born This Way?

The Independent packs a reporter off to some conference in Lisbon where some boffins are trying "to settle a debate that has raged for decades: are gays born or made?"
The answer is: No-one has a fucking clue.
To paraphrase Noam Chomsky talking about something completely different; perhaps human understanding will never reach the point where we can answer that question.
Fagburn is currently more vexed as to why The Independent chose to illustrate the feature with the stock photo above.
It's like something you might have seen in the 1970s FFS.
Are there really no gay men in the entire world who will let their faces be shown in photos?
