Andres Serrano's Piss Christ - a strangely beautiful photo of a crucifix suspended in Andrew's own piss - has been "destroyed" by Christians". Three men attacked it with what's been variously described as a hammer and screwdriver or icepick, following a protest by Christian nutjobs on Sunday and threats made to the gallery that was displaying it in Avignon in your actual France.
Piss Christ has come under less literal attack many times before; often held up as the worst example of "perverted art" in attacks on public funding for the arts by right-wing and/or religious groups in the States.
But isn't taking a hammer to it kinda in keeping with the détournement of the piece?

It's only offensive if you think there's something offensive or shameful about urine/bodily functions.
