One of the first things you see when you open the new Pride Life magazine is a full-page ad inviting "the gays" to visit Israel.
The photo shows some men frolicking in the Dead Sea.
It's "Play time"!
The British gay press often run travel features on Israel - almost always on "gay-friendly" Tel Aviv; don't mention the war, don't mention the occupation...
It feels as distasteful as being invited to visit Berlin in the '30s.
One journalist even boasted that he knew "nothing about Israel's politics," which you'd have thought would have spurred him to find something out about it.
Purely in the interests of balance, maybe the gay press could start running ads asking "the gays" to visit the Gaza Strip, illustrated with the dead bodies of a dozen or more peace activists floating in the Mediterranean sea.
