The Sussex Beacon charity shop below my flat has arranged a big special section of gay books for Brighton Pride.
Naturally, I'm ecstatic (but probably bankrupt).
The awful thing is reading the acknowledgments page to the books wrtitten in the 80s and 90s where they pay tribute to their lovers, friends and colleagues who died of Aids.
This one has 39.
Crying like a baby - how will I ever start to read the book?

Brighton: Pride
Fagburn is away trying to be proud this weekend. x
PS The Brighton Pride parade and the St James's Street Village Party always make me well up with genuine pride about this city (but if I see another rainbow flag or disgusting clothing item I swear I'll do time).

Brighton Pride: Sake
PinkNews Exclusive
The Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Penny Mordaunt, has announced that the Red Arrows are to fly over Brighton Pride…but it knows nothing about it!
Speaking at the pro-Brexit Out and Proud launch event in London last night, the Portsmouth North MP said: “I can offer you a bit of an exclusive tonight. If they would like it, Brighton Pride will have been offered the Red Arrows to fly over the city...
YAY!!!
Hopefully dropping rainbow-coloured drones.
Stonewallers, you did not riot in vain.
PS Manchester latest victim of gay fuckwittery.

Brighton Pride: Jolly Coppers On Parade (Gayers Not Pictured)
Independent On Sunday.
Aren't our police juswunnerful etc etc.
Not long til they can run that evergreen classic photo; a policeman dancing with a black woman at Notting Hill Carnival.
Amazing!
9 pictures here. As per, you can't see any of their faces (bar, possibly one), just some queens hidden by drag.
Gay shaming after a gay pride event, yeah!
Oh do fuck off.
Update: Same bunch of PA photos on Guardian online - but look, this one has another camouflaged drag queen AND a copper!!!
BINGO!
NB George Montague, the fabled 'oldest gay in the village', and his husband as of Friday, Somchai.
So why do we only see the back of their heads?

Brighton Pride: Yay!
Fagburn is enjoying the colourful fun and frolics at Brighton Pride today.
I'm the one with the banner; 'If I'd known you were going to be "Born This Way", I'd have had you aborted'.
If you see me, come say hi!

Kinda reminds you what Pride's all about...

Pro gay marriage and anti Russia - the two tickboxes of the new gay right.

BBQGate: Middle Class Problems

| Argus, click to enlarge or read here. |
The ludicrous Sussex Plod Vs Brighton Pride Beach BBQ farce rumbles on...
Beth 'I have a professional job in digital marketing. I am not an anarchist living in a squat' Granter, pictured recently.
And that's an actual quote from the above.
SMELLY UNWASHED ANARCHISTS - BOO!
'They phoned and asked me a routine, mundane question about a beach barbecue!'
'They phoned and asked me a routine, mundane question about a beach barbecue!'
'THIS IS JUST LIKE LIVING IN NORTH KOREA!!!'
Ladies and gentlemen, this is what now passes for 'radical queer activism' in Brighton!
In no way way has our utopian movement and all our anarchist dreams been hijacked by the boring bourgeoisie and routinely pissed on.
PS Though 'the 31-year-old believes she was “singled-out”' - presumably from all the other activists and campaigners who are less keen on getting their face in the Argus - our Beth's last state-power-quaking political action was inviting people to go and say BOO! to a Coca-Cola Santa Christmas truck in Churchill Square. Cause Russia/Sochi. Yah? Good job you don't let right-wing propaganda and service to empire dictate your political agenda, Beth!

Fagburn: Brighton Pride
Taking the weekend off for Brighton Gay Pride, by the way.
It's been every bit as hellish as usual thus far.
Think I deserve some kind of award for not strangling someone with their stupid rainbow flag while they choke on their annoying whistle.
Back off out again now to the St James's Street Party - which could be more accurately named 'Brighton Straight Piss-Up'. *
Can't wait for this to stop - thank god we only have to do this once a year!
PS Thanks to my care worker, Tom, for looking after me. x
Photo stolen from Tamzine Miller. x
* Not actually a joke. Fagburn's lived just up the road for 15 years, and this was the only time I've ever felt unsafe and threatened on the very street where I live. Something's gone very wrong here...

Brighton Pride: You Are Welcome
In a statement, which they clearly didn't write themselves but we'll pretend they did, David Cameron, Nick Clegg, Ed Miliband, Caroline Lucas, Nick Griffin and Nigel Farage have all expressed their support for Brighton Pride.
'Brighton Pride is good,' they said. 'Good Brighton Pride is. I have absolutely no objections to you people walking from one place to another. This shows the wonderful, colourful vibrancy that makesHull Brighton such a great place to work on a minimum wage.'
'I would like to take this opportunity to thank myself for fighting so hard in your battle for equality.'
'Thank you and god bless'.

Brighton Pride: Daylight Bank Robbery
Brighton Pride directors were shocked to find a poster they considered misleading outside a NatWest Bank in Churchill Square saying Proudly Supporting Pride in Brighton.
Paul Kemp and Dulcie Weaver, both Directors of Brighton Pride CIC went into the branch to ask exactly how NatWest Bank were supporting Brighton Pride as they knew nothing about any sponsorship arrangements.
Dulcie Weaver, said: “We went into the bank and asked to see the manager, who we were told was away for three weeks. We asked exactly what Nat West Bank was doing to support Brighton Pride as stated on the poster. The cashier said they were supporting Pride by putting the posters up. We said that wasn’t supporting the event or helping our fundraising efforts.”
The cashier said: “Surely any support is better than no support at all.”
GScene - thanks to Undersided.
Pls don't write and say if they did give them money you'd complain about that, too. I reserve the right to be ethically confused and inconsistent.

Brighton Pride: Road Worthy
A "rainbow road crossing" has been unveiled in Brighton as part of the celebrations to mark LGBT Pride month.
The artwork, which stretches across the road at the artists' quarter of Madeira Drive, was painted over two days.
Similar crossings have previously appeared in cities around the world including Los Angeles, Sydney and Tel Aviv but this is thought to be the first in Europe.
The crossing was opened by Brighton artist and musician Heather Peace.
She called the artwork "a gift from me [!!!] to anyone that embraces diversity".
Although hundreds of tourists are expected to visit the artwork, police have warned it should not be considered an official road crossing.
Unlike official crossings, pedestrians will not have any priority over vehicles when walking on the artwork.
Traffic regulations also mean the artwork will have to be removed after a week.

Lesbians and gaylords, gay culture has now reached its zenith - its pinnacle, its apex, its apogee.
Queer liberation can literally go no further.
We might as well go back to the Stonewall Inn and start all over again.
PS Have an awful feeling this tomfoolery may be annoyingly close to Fagburn Mansions.
Going to have a look - if it is I'll ask the council to have it removed forthwith!
Update: It's a few minutes away - ugh!
'Artisans' quarter', my arse.
Thankfully, it's so far out and approaches a dead end, so hardly anyone will see it, bar coach drivers parking for the day and gentlemen on their way to The Bushes.
Update2: Oh crap. Looks like London's getting one. Says much that it's been proposed by a Tory MP, Mike Freer. Ooh, thank you!
Edit: For one day only!

Fagburn: Backpfeifengesicht
Ver actual media is full of stuff about Ukip and that smug posh twat Nigel Farage today, but here's a quick round-up of some other stuff that caught my red eyes recently...
Chris Denning: Shameless Ex-BBC DJ busted BBC News.
Burn the witch! etc etc.
Unreported World: Jamaica's Underground Gays Channel 4.
Tonight at 8pm.
RT with a :( if you want to pretend you care, but won't actually watch it.
Gambo: Shameless BBC DJ hosts Ivor Novello Awards Daily Express.
The 30th year he's done it. Good for him. x
Adorable!: The most pukey kid reacts to gayers 'viral' video EVER! Daily Mail.
It's rather instructive that only naff right-wing dweebs like Mail Online and Gay Star News like sentimental gay crap like this.
Old Vic: Matthew Warchus taking over from Kevin Spacey Daily Telegraph.
Old Vic? Queen Vic more like!
[Edit: Apparently Warchus, director of the new film Pride, isn't gay so... 'Old Vic? Old queen more like!' Not that I'm suggesting Spacey is a big gayer, either].
Disco Damaged: London website relaunched!!! DiscoDamaged.com.
Good news.
Brian Paddick: Ex-lover 'threatened to kill me' Via Gay Star News.
Brighton Pride: Will they charge for the St James's Street party? GScene.
Probably. They always do what Sussex Police tell them to.
Sitges: Never Mind The Buggers Guardian Travel.
Fagburn's stepsister [Is there a nicer term to use?] used to live there with her kids and they all loved it.
RuPaul: Responds to 'tranny' 'controversy' HuffPost Gay Voices.
Context is all. If The Sun used 'tranny' in a cruel, sensationalist story about a trans woman that would be offensive, but I really don't think that's what going on here.

Harvey Milk: A frigging stamp unveiled at the White House! The Independent.
A stamp!!!! Wow. It's the least they could do - they checked.
Edward Carpenter: Fundraising drive for a memorial in Sheffield Morning Star.
The pioneering radical gay socialist Edward Carpenter is one of Fagburn's heroes. Born in Hove, he didn't stay long...
Fred Phelps: Did a dying Fred come out for LGBT rights? Via Queerty.
Doubt it. This has apparently come from a member of the Phelps clan and they say all kinds of crazy shit.
Giovanni's Room: The last day at America's oldest gay bookstore Rolling Stone.
Thanks amazon! Maybe since your minimum wage slavery and tax avoidance helped put them out of business, some of the money you so publicly gave for mc same-sex marriage could go to help a community LGBT bookshop for gay people who like books. Ah, just realised the flaw in that plan...
PS Backpfeifengesicht is a German word for a person who should be punched in the face.

Pride: Gay Lies Of Our Time!
Fagburn has no doubts that there were 2.5 million people there.
Absolutely heavens to Betsy not!
If the organisers said it, then it must be true.
Heaven forfend that a journalist might question something and be capable of rational thought!
Just like the organisers of Pride London claimed a million people turned up.
Then scaled it down to 25,000.
And the organisers of Brighton Pride claimed a whopping 150,000 people attend.
Only for it to be proven that 25,000 people attended.
Why, a cynic might think some people have a vested interest in inflating these figures!
And might think most journalists are dumb.

Brighton Pride: That List Of People Who #LoveBrightonPride In Full
1. Well-meaning straight people from Brighton who like showing they're really down with The Gays.
2. Gay men from London (but only cause they've taken loads of blood-boiling rave drugs).
3. Sussex Police.
4. LGBTory.
5. Meh.
And a big thank you to Saint Peter who reminded BBC News about the real meaning of pride... celebrating Peter Tatchell.
Astounding!
Does this man's vanity know no bounds?*
PS Good to see these gay Tories are holding up signs saying 'Brighton supports LGBT Russia' (and wearing gay marriage t-shirts, natch - 'Keep calm and marry on... while the caring Cameron Conservatives make you even poorer').
Means a lot, thanks.
Funny how this issue has animated right-wing gaybores, like these sad fucks and all those lovable gay bar owners.
You might care to speculate on why this is...
The first time the gay tories had a stall at Brighton Pride a bitter gay blogger - who shall remain nameless - banged his fist on their table and said some very rude words about Section 28 etc and told them where to go (The Merry Old Land of... OFF!)
So childish...

Brighton Pride: Police Crackdown On Fun
“Pride is a fantastic community event and is great for the City, attracting around 160,000 people [sic] who come to enjoy a weekend of festivities.
“Sussex Police works closely with the Pride organisers in order to make sure the event remains as safe as possible for everyone.
“However, as with many large scale events, there is always a minority who will look to exploit the situation by making money dealing in illegal substances. In order to tackle this we will always increase drug enforcement activity leading up to an event like Pride.
“Drug warrants are intelligence led and I would encourage anyone who suspects there may be drug activity going on in their area to please get in touch. You can call 101 or do it anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Both plain clothed and uniform officers will be working on the day of Pride alongside pride event security.”
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Betts, quoted in GScene.
GScene reports that three men have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, and have been bailed until August 15th.
They also quote a spokesbot for Brighton Pride who calls drug taking "substance abuse".
Astounding.
This Pride prize idiot also says; "This year should be a huge celebration of the fact that, in law we are now equal. A true diverse community!”
Unless you like taking naughty drugs, of course.
Homosexuality was once illegal - would this servant of power have told anyone who'd heard someone had gay sex to grass them up to the police too?
PS Last year Sussex Police and Pride stewards colluded to harass a group of people who dared to walk with a banner about squatting and queer homelessness.
Well done all!
Happy Pride!
Update: Almost unbelieveable piece of Sussex Police PR masquerading as journalism in the Argus about how the Robocop Fun Police want to stamp out fun. Do you want a list of Brighton police officers and Pride organisers who take drugs? Oh, the hypocrisy.
Obviously, if the police in Brighton want to find gay men selling drugs maybe it's best to start looking closer to home - like in your police station.
