Harry Cock: Australian Actor You've Never Heard Of Comes Out

On Sunday, Australian actor Harry Cock, perhaps best known for playing the lovable scamp Bouncer in the short-lived Aussie children's show, Tie My Kangaroo Down, Mate, and from a Flakes-Away shampoo commercial ("Dandruff's not keeping me in tonight!"), came out as a gay on YouTube.

Cock, 22, says he was worried about the ramifications not coming out in a video sent to the world's gay media would have on his career - and having only really played bit-parts, he realised he was "as desperate as I am shameless".

Inspired by the positive reaction Tom Daley got worldwide when he did exactly the same thing a week a go, Harry adds that making the selfie video was a great self-publicity stunt for him.

"And besides, I thought," he thought, "the gay media will run any old nonsense like this like it's important news that really matters!"

It's certainly working! Unlike most gay journalists!

Today several people rushed to Google Cock's name to find out who on earth he was, only to find he hasn't even got a Wikipedia page.

Oozing insincerity, and showing the bad am-dram acting skills some say may have hindered him, Cock also reveals that he’s “madly in love” with his miniature schnauzer, Honey Boo Boo, and didn’t want to go through life waiting tables at his uncle's diner.

"And who knows," he laughs, "I may even get some cock out of this!"

You can see Cock next in the panto, Puss In Boots, at the Go-Betweens Theatre, Perth.

Well done Harry, you're an inspiration to out-of-work gay actors everywhere!

• Harry Cock is not to be confused with the talented and successful Australian actor, Harry Cook, who came out in the YouTube video above. So brave! etc etc.
