There is a new play - Killers by Glenn Chandler - about people who write "fan mail" to mass murderers, at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Sounds right up my dark alley.

    One gets the impression that female psychiatrists/social workers/counsellors are especially liable to marry violent male prisoners...
