The Pre-Watershed Gay TV Kiss Ban: That Doesn't Exist

"Coronation Street actress and DIVA cover star Brooke Vincent has criticised the Prime Minister for endorsing a review of the television watershed...
"Her comments follow a report suggesting that an independent review may recommend gay embraces to be restricted to post-9pm, which would be supported by Cameron..."

The hopeless Peter Lloyd at The Pink Paper.
A lie Lloyd swallowed whole, as per.

"Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent has slammed prime minister David Cameron over reports that he supports new proposals which could ban same-sex kisses on pre-watershed television..."

James Park on Pink News.
Despite talking up this non-story in the intro, Park actually bothered to check the story - a rare thing on Pink News; "A Downing Street source told PinkNews.co.uk that contrary to the reports in the newspapers, the prime minister has yet to express a view on the report, and will not until it is published."

Here's Fagburn on the original stupid story in The Daily Mail about an "independent review" by a man who's so deluded he thinks he's a mother - that then got picked up by The Sun, and then on the net as "British PM Wants To Ban Gay TV Kisses".
He doesn't.
If you can find any reference to same-sex kissing on TV in this Mothers' Union report, please let me know.
The line about "lesbian kisses" being banned was added/invented by The Daily Mail - presumably so they could publish photos of lesbians kissing.
And a ban on lesbian and gay kisses only would almost certainly be illegal under the Equality Act.
FFS!

  1. What's that you say?
David Cameron wants to ban gay people from TV!?

    This is outrageous!
    I'm mobilising on the twitter.
I urge all your readers to do the same.

  2. You've somewhat misrepresented the situation. There is a story hear, about choosing the wrong person to carry out the review, and the recommendations of the previous review were absolutely fine anyway.

You missed the piece in the Daily Mail which said:

A source close to the inquiry told the Daily Mail: “......For some parents, what has been considered acceptable in the past – such as that Brookside kiss – is not appropriate for children to see early in the evening.”

and that, Dear fagburn, is where the Lesbian Kiss references came from. They didn't invent it. I watched your interaction with Mothers' Union via twitter - you did even less research than the Daily Mail.

  3. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I've made it quite clear that Reg Bailey is the wrong person to carry out such a review - and that the Mothers Union has a history of homophobic statements.

Do you really think when the Daily Mail quote " a source close to the inquiry" (without naming them) they actually exist?
