Barry Humphries: Nothing Like A Dame

Humphries is not, he insists, particularly Right wing. “I don’t know anything about politics. But the far Left is so conservative, paradoxically, inflexible, doctrinaire and humourless. You can’t describe the world as it is any more. You get jumped on.” Does he? He chortles. “I’m happy to say I do. I give offence therefore I am. Not too much offence, though.”

As an expat, Humphries is always grouped with fellow Australians Germaine Greer and Clive James. “I don’t mind; they’re friends,” he says. On the other hand, he disliked being linked to Rolf Harris. “He behaved evilly,” says Humphries.

Greer attracted fury after claiming that “trans” women such as Caitlyn Jenner (formerly the Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner) are men “who believe that they are women and have themselves castrated”, with students at Cardiff University describing Greer as “transphobic” and someone who should make all right-minded people feel “sick to [their] stomachs”.

Humphries is supportive of Greer in the controversy. “I agree with Germaine! You’re a mutilated man, that’s all,” he says. “Self-mutilation, what’s all this carry on? Caitlyn Jenner – what a publicity-seeking ratbag. It’s all given the stamp – not of respectability, but authenticity or something. If you criticise anything you’re racist or sexist or homophobic.” ...

Telegraph.

I imagine this will go down well, won't it?

2015: Goodbye To All That

Kim Davis, gaymarriage, trans in the military, Caitlyn Jenner, the bathroom bill, the blood donor ban, blah blah blah... yes Zach, it was a very dull year.

But the earth stood still, as the White House turned rainbow!

There won't be a backlash, love, unless you count us all dying of being boring.

PS My imaginary friend, Sean Faye, wrote an interesting piece about how obsessing over the blood donor ban is a gay bourgeois folly.

Slight paraphrase, but the prime movers behind this waste of time all seem to be in LGBTory.

2015: A Landmark Year For LGBT Rights

2015 has been a stellar year for the LGBT community.

With same-sex marriage being legalised in the US and Ireland, and countries like Mozambique decriminalising homosexuality, the year has seen many welcome legislative changes for gay couples.

But perhaps the most significant change is the growing media presence of LGBT celebrities who have been flying the flag for greater acceptance.

Here are some of the most famous names who have helped make 2015 a great year of LGBT rights...

Independent.

Caitlyn Jenner!

Ruby Rose!

'Justice Anthony Kennedy and the other Supreme Court Justices who legalised same sex marriage in the US'! (Media celebrities???)

Tillett Wright! (Who? etc).

Ellen Page!

Cara Delevigne!!

No gay men!!

Well, this must have taken minutes to research and write - Caroline Mortimer, I can't thank you enough!

A fitting tribute to the Independent's 'LGBT' coverage in 2015 - once again the most patronising and superficial in a British newspaper.

As ever, a school magazine would have rejected this infantile drivel.

Stellar!

Caitlyn Jenner: I Ain't Cait

Caitlyn Jenner, leaving a speaking engagement in Chicago today, encountered some angry protesters who called her “an insult to trans people” and “an insult to women.”

Jenner gave a luncheon address at a Hilton hotel as part of a fundraising event for Chicago House, a nonprofit that was established in the 1980s to provide housing and case management to people with HIV or AIDS and expanded in 2013 with the TransLife Center, a program offering supportive housing and social services to transgender people, regardless of HIV status.

But protesters said Jenner was not an appropriate representative for transgender people, given that she is a wealthy white woman and has made some disparaging comments about people who receive public assistance. They also accused Chicago House of marginalizing trans people of color.

“Make the services and make this movement and this plea for trans tolerance intentional and direct for the people who are facing the violence every day on the streets, the people who are being discriminated against on the basis of their gender and their race at the same time,” protester Monica James told the Chicago Tribune. “She can’t speak to those struggles. It defaces the real truth behind transitioning.” James held a sign reading, “Liberation not miss-representation.”

James briefly spoke with Jenner, talking about her struggles to find employment. Jenner responded, “I would love to see you have a job. I love you,” then was escorted to a van by her security team, the Tribune reports.

“I understand her saying that and having her perspective, but that's just one perspective,” James told the paper. “Now we're asking them to come and get the rest of our perspectives and then make a comprehensive package of how we're going to try to merge these people into mainstream society with equal rights and equal benefits.”

Organizers of the protest, dubbed “I Ain’t Cait,” set up a Facebook page to draw participants to the demonstration and included a quote from Jenner on her reality TV series I Am Cait, regarding users of social services: “You don’t want people to get totally dependent on it. That’s when they get into trouble. ‘Why should I work? You know, I’ve got a few bucks, I’ve got my room paid for.’”

The page described Jenner as “a clueless rich white woman who thinks disenfranchised trans women of color should just pluck themselves up off the street and stop being so lazy.” A protester at the event could be heard calling her “an insult to trans people” and “an insult to women,” according to Entertainment Tonight. ...

Big Gay Baby: Introducing Our New Star Columnist...

Proudly waving the rainbow flag for the infantilisation of gay journalism since July 2015!

Hey gays!

Didya see the photos of Pluto, the small planet? Pluto, the gay planet, more like! Hahaha!!!

* Also didya see Caitlyn Jenner's moving speech when she accepted some award the other day? That tranny trans lady is #sobrave - and an inspiration, esp. to all the other trans lady millionaire Republican TV reality show stars. You go, trans girl!

* So according to some boffins, all homophobes are secretly gayers! Hahaha! Some may dismiss this as an even bigger pile of steaming crap than I currently have in my nappy, but Big Gay Baby prefers to believe in comfort blankets like this.

Congrats to American singing sexpot Nick Jonas! If only more hot male pop stars would 'come out' and say they don't want to kill all the gays with an assault rifle or perhaps a machete. And if only Nick could crush homophobia with his gorge big bulging biceps!!! #SoBraveNick

* There was something in the news about the Nazis this week - it was actually about some old guy's involvement in the extermination of a million Jews at Auschwitz, but let's not forget those Nazis were also pretty horrid to the Gays! :(

* Talking of Nazis, didya see the video of those two brave Russian dudes walking round Moscow hand-in-hand? They got called some very nasty names! Will we never learn from history??? First they came for the... [Subs, pls fill in the rest of this hackneyed quote].

* Talking of countries that are just like Nazi Germany, didya see they've lifted international sanctions against Iran? Hrmph! Well, Mr Obama, some of us will never forget the 6 MILLION GAYS Iran has sent to the gas chambers! Big Gay Baby says keep the sanctions - until there is a lovely Rainbow Crossing in Tehran!

* On a lighter note, just got an email from the guys at Grindr. Apparently, according to a scientific poll they've conducted, it's a great place to find love and to make new friends! Well done Grindr! Happy to put the record straight and give you a free ad.

* Maybe all the sad and lonely gays I've been reading about who go to so-called 'chemicalsex parties' should try using Grindr to find love and make some new friends, eh? Just sayin'...

That's great, Big Gay Baby, but I think it's time for your nap now...

Burp!

John Waters: Change

While the rest of the world ties itself in knots in order not to fall foul of PC/LGBT lexical updates, Waters happily alludes to Vanity Fair’s post-op cover star as Bruce instead of Caitlyn. ‘The Bruce Jenner/Caitlyn thing is kind of old hat to me. I had a transgender woman in Pink Flamingos. She had breasts and a penis. She got the operation that week. That was radical to me then. Caitlyn’s a Republican, she’s on a reality show, and she’s a Kardashian. We can’t make fun of him or her?’ He’s much more intrigued by girls who are now boys, he says. ‘It seems newer to me. They look like guys I like, so it’s even more confusing. They ask me to sign their vasectomy scars a lot, which I do.’
