The actor John Inman is the latest target of the increasingly insane Celebrity Nonce Squad. Far be it from me to point out that Inman died in 2007 and, just like Jimmy Savile, remains dead.

Since when has the lack of a live suspect ever stopped them? Having failed to arrest Savile while he was still breathing, the Old Bill have been trying desperately to pin bogus charges of 'historic' sex abuse on everyone from disc jockey Paul Gambaccini to the former Prime Minister Edward Heath, who is also dead.

This deranged witch-hunt has ruined the lives of countless innocent individuals and turned the basic principle of British justice on its head.

All those accused are presumed guilty unless they can prove themselves innocent. In the case of war hero Lord Bramall, absurdly accused of being a member of a VIP paedophile ring, investigating officers took a full ten months before contacting key witnesses who could testify that the allegations against him were nonsense...

Schools: The War Against Cissies

 

The days of boys and girls cheerfully baiting each other in the playground with terms such as “sissy” and “cupcake” or issuing orders to “man up” or “go make me a sandwich” may be brought to an end.

New guidelines being sent to all schools in England this week at the government’s request will urge head teachers to ensure that sexist phrases become as unacceptable as racist language.

Some schools are already creating volunteer squads of girls to police sexist language and behaviour and report back to teachers...

With the help of the BBC’s Panorama this week, the full evil lunacy of the child abuse and murder conspiracy allegations relating to Dolphin Square, Elm House, Leon Brittan, Ted Heath, Field Marshal Lord Bramall etc is now emerging. There is a long, long way to go, however, before the names are properly cleared and the police have apologised for their disgusting behaviour. There also needs to be a long list drawn up of those in public life and the media who gave credence to these cruel fantasies. The behaviour of Tom Watson MP puts him in the same class as Titus Oates, Noel Pemberton Billing and Senator Joe McCarthy. Many of us tut-tut that Jeremy Corbyn is leader of the Labour party, but it is far more shocking that its deputy leader is Mr Watson.

Adrian Hyyyrlainen-Trett: Things That Make You Go Hmmm...

A Liberal Democrat has become Britain’s first HIV-positive parliamentary candidate after telling how he "deliberately" contracted the virus after years of homophobic bullying.

Adrian Hyyrylainen-Trett, 36, suffered physical and psychological bullying at school for being gay.

In an interview with Buzzfeed's LGBT editor Patrick Strudwick, the Lib Dem candidate for Vauxhall in south London explained why he chose to speak out.

Hyyrylainen-Trett said he believed he "owed it" to the community to discuss the issues he went through and help others who were experiencing the same problems.

"With psychological bullying all you have is the words whirling around your head – comments thrown at you in the sports room, in the gym, walking home from school."

Hyyrylainen-Trett said bullying led him to into a spiral of drugs, depression and suicidal thoughts, before he decided that HIV might be "one way" to take his own life.

"I didn’t really want HIV," he said. "I wanted annihilation of me." ...

"Britain is silencing debate on race issues," cried the newspaper - touting a Channel 4 documentary Phillips is presenting on the topic, 'Things We Won't Say About Race That Are True'.

Has the British media REALLY been shying away from the topic? Has the Daily Mail? ...

Doctor Who in homophobia row over lesbian lizard kiss. There’s a headline you don’t expect to read every day.

Gay rights campaigners [Eh?] are bouncing up and down with indignation after the BBC removed a scene in which a lesbian lizard woman called Madame Vastra is seen snogging her on-screen ‘wife’.

They were anxious to avoid offending Muslim viewers in the Far East. In Singapore, for instance, programmes ‘promoting’ same-sex relationships are banned. I wonder if the BBC would have scrapped the scene for fear of offending devout Christians in Sittingbourne...

Shouldn’t have thought so for a minute. Offending opponents of gay marriage is probably why they included the scene in the first place.

What puzzles me is why the producers would want to peddle a lesbian storyline in a series aimed primarily at children [Eh?].

Still, there does seem to be a statutory clause at the BBC which demands gay themes in all drama output. For the record, I couldn’t care less. But what does making the lizard lady a lesbian actually add to the show?

I’ve always thought the Doctor was asexual, not that I’ve watched Dr Who since he was played by Patrick Troughton.

No doubt they’re planning to ‘out’ him as a Friend of Dorothy in the next series, the one in which the Daleks turn their talents to soft furnishing and the Cybermen are all revealed to be closet Judy Garland fans.

On the day Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans was arrested mob-handed in the full glare of the TV cameras, I expressed some sympathy for him. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.
But I’m afraid that, like Quentin Letts, I found his self-pitying statement in the Commons both nauseating and an abuse of Parliamentary privilege. He should have stood down quietly to concentrate on his defence against gay rape charges, not turned the occasion into an undignified Oscars-style sobfest.
Dave Lee Travis wouldn’t have been given half an hour’s free airtime to plead his innocence and thank his friends for their support. So why should an MP in the same boat be any different?
And, as I also asked at the time, if Evans had been a heterosexual MP accused of rape and sexual assault against women, would he have received such an indulgent hearing?

David Miranda: Can't Happen Here!

At 6:30 am this morning my time - 5:30 am on the East Coast of the US - I received a telephone call from someone who identified himself as a "security official at Heathrow airport." He told me that my partner, David Miranda, had been "detained" at the London airport "under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act of 2000."

David had spent the last week in Berlin, where he stayed with Laura Poitras, the US filmmaker who has worked with me extensively on the NSA stories. A Brazilian citizen, he was returning to our home in Rio de Janeiro this morning on British Airways, flying first to London and then on to Rio. When he arrived in London this morning, he was detained.

At the time the "security official" called me, David had been detained for 3 hours. The security official told me that they had the right to detain him for up to 9 hours in order to question him, at which point they could either arrest and charge him or ask a court to extend the question time. The official - who refused to give his name but would only identify himself by his number: 203654 - said David was not allowed to have a lawyer present, nor would they allow me to talk to him.

I immediately contacted the Guardian, which sent lawyers to the airport, as well various Brazilian officials I know. Within the hour, several senior Brazilian officials were engaged and expressing indignation over what was being done. The Guardian has the full story here.

Yesterday's Guardian ran an interview with David.
The Guardian's slightly gone to town on this - the talented Mr GG is one of their own, of course - but it's been the biggest news story of the week so far.
Chilling stuff - and a story involving a clear breach of the human rights of a gay man, whose only "crime" is being the boyfriend of an investigative journalist; Amnesty are on to it.

One wonders if the gay media's coverage would have been different if David Miranda had been detained illegally by the Russian authorities?

Pink News haven't covered it at all, for shame.

One might have hoped that the Guardian would extend the same support to Jim Davidson as they have to their own man.
But while Miranda has the right credentials — gay, fashionably Brazilian, Left-wing, anti-American, anti-British — Jimbo [Jim Davidson] ticks all the wrong boxes.
He’s a serial heterosexual, fiercely patriotric, works tirelessly for military charities, tells the ‘wrong’ kind of jokes and, horror or horrors, was a cheerleader for Mrs Thatcher and the Tories.
So, even if he isn’t guilty, as far as the Guardian is concerned it serves him right. His kind aren’t entitled to ‘human rights’.

Call Me Dave has announced he's on a mission to export gay marriage around the world. Why? At a Downing Street reception to celebrate the passage of the Bill legalising same-sex weddings, he said Britain is 'the best place to be gay, lesbian or transgender anywhere in Europe'.
"Well, hooray for that. Now can we change the subject?"
Apparently not. Rather than dismantle the team that piloted the Bill through Parliament, the Prime Minister plans to send them on some kind of global outreach expedition to spread the word in less enlightened countries.
'There's still a lot more work to be done talking to our Commonwealth partners about decriminalising homosexuality.'
I have visions of civil servants in pink pith helmets combing remote regions of Africa in search of converts, rather like the missionaries who brought Christianity to the savages in the 19th century.
Smiling children flock round rainbow-painted Land Rovers while representatives of HMG distribute souvenir copies of Gay Times and autographed photos of Clare Balding...
etc etc.

Stunningly, the general gist of Littlejohn's argument about how this shows a patronising neo-colonialist Orientalist attitude to "unenlightened" countries is correct.
Obviously he doesn't use the phrase "neo-colonialist Orientalist attitude".
But then he goes and spoils it all by saying something stupid about cutting foreign aid.
An argument often advanced by neo-colonialist Orientalist gay campaigners and journalists, coincidentally.

Lucy Meadows: Trial By Tabloid, Death By Tabloid?

And with a tragic timing this story broke today; 'Sex Change Teacher Lucy Meadows Found Dead'.
Is there a connection between this and how the tabloids treated her?

In December Richard Littlejohn wrote a piece about Lucy - 'He's Not Just In The Wrong Job, He's In The Wrong Body' ["He"?] - so offensive the Mail removed it from their website - it's cached here.  
There's now an e-petition calling for the Mail to sack Littlejohn - you can sign it here.
I'm very sceptical/cynical about these things, mainly as I don't think the people they are usually targeted on care much about them.
It's also not clear at the moment exactly why Lucy killed herself, though she had repeatedly complained of press harassment - and the hounding of her by the media went much further than Littlejohn's article.
But - rather obviously - I think it's good that people express their anger and revulsion over this.
I can't see the Mail sacking Littlejohn, but as with the outrage over Jan Moir's column on the death of Stephen Gately maybe it will curb some of their most odious and hurtful excesses.
Though I wouldn't be surprised if Richard Littlejohn's next Mail column is devoted to complaining about Twitterstorms and how he's being "harrassed" by some supposed "PC army" and some "Trans cabal".
Just like Suzanne Moore did.
