Nevertheless, to think that a heterosexual man and a heterosexual woman, preferably married to one another, are – other things being equal – the best parents, is common sense. It derives from an inherited knowledge of the complementary nature of the sexes, the need for security and burden-sharing, and the fact that blood is thicker than water. It could change a bit with circumstances – many argue that the formal marriage bit matters less nowadays – but the balance of proof lies with the conservative position...

Elton John: At Last! A Story That's Not About Dolce & Gabbana!

The Elton John tribute act who sang for the singer's mum at her 90th birthday party has spoken for the first time, saying: “It was his loss...my gain.”

Paul Bacon, otherwise know as “Ultimate Elton”, said that Sheila Farebrother went to see him in concert after being sent a video of him performing.

Paul, who charges up to £2,200 to perform at parties, said: “She had such a good time that she said: ‘I’ve got to have you guys at my party because the other chap, the other Elton isn’t available’ so we got the gig.”

Sheila and her son - real name Reginald Dwight - haven’t spoken for seven years after she allegedly upset the singer’s hubby David Furnish.

She since claims she has been “cut off completely” by the star. Things have become so strained between the pair that the 64-year-old musician - worth £240m - allegedly stayed away from his 88-year-old stepdad Fred’s funeral in 2010.

Gay Dads: Now A Thing

Having kids is now A Thing. It’s part of the mental map of young gays, along with small things like holding hands in public, something that still does not come naturally to me. I suspect if I had been born 20 years later, after all those bad tempered debates about the age of consent and Section 28 had been long forgotten, that brief recoil I have about gay dads wouldn’t exist.

Twenty years ago, Andrew Sullivan, the [right wing Catholic FB] British journalist transplanted to the US, wrote an influential book Virtually Normal, that made a conservative case for same sex marriage. His was a controversial view. Old gay libbers rejected marriage as an oppressive heterosexual institution, conservative gays (and there are plenty) thought it too radical and the great lump in the middle just thought it will never happen in my lifetime. Now, in what is the twinkling of an eye, same-sex marriage is part of the new normal, despite the occasional Ukippy belch of disapproval. The generational tectonic plates have slowly moved. Let’s cut a little slack to those who have a talent for espying the new black, but can’t see the new normal.

Gay Dads: No, Says Scary Christian Lady

SAME-sex couples having a baby by way of reproductive medicine are deliberately depriving a child of either a mother or a father.

Couples such as Elton John and David Furnish put their own selfish needs above that of a child. They are satisfying their own needs, not considering the child’s.

No amount of money, good education or lavish homes can replace a mother.

Children who are conceived through some reproduction medicine are always going to be deprived of a biological mother or father and that is not right. It makes children a commodity.

Every year in this country, around 200,000 babies are aborted because they are an inconvenience.

And yet gay couples will go to any lengths to acquire what they naturally cannot have.

I applaud Dolce and Gabbana for speaking out. This is a problem society needs to grapple with.
