Fagburn: I'm Still Here

Sincere apologies - Fagburn was called away to London by the spirit voice of Regina Fong to see a young engineer of his acquaintance, and a transvestite potter.

He is now going through the last few days' papers to see what - if anything - of interest and import he missed.

These - again, if there are actually any - will be retroactively posted below on the day of publication.

PS This amusing/disturbing/sacrilegious/erotic/transphobic photomontage illustrates a silly article in today's Guardian; Tony Benn – the new face of the Tories No wonder our Thatcherite prime minister can’t win over much of his party on the European Union. They’re closet Bennites

Of course, that 'politician is Thatcher in drag' meme/trope will never get old...

BNP Youth: Facist Bastard!

The leader of the BNP youth party has told of his nightmare first year at university – during which he has been constantly abused and even SPAT on because of his views.

Jack Renshaw, 19, joined the right-wing movement when he was just 15 and was elected youth liaison officer earlier this year.

He created a controversial recruitment video for the group which slammed “militant homosexuals” – and even hit out at the mum of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence...

“People know me after the BNP video. I had a lot of trouble when I walked through Manchester, people shouted crap at me.

“It was when I was going about my daily life. People would call me a facist bastard and I’ve been called a Nazi – I always get called that. But I don’t mind."

The teenager – who wants to bring back National Service – claims he has since been spat at while in his home town of Blackpool and abused in Manchester.

But he did admit his first year as a student had forced him to socialise with gay students – even if they did “get on his nerves”.

In an exclusive interview with student newspaper The Tab, he said: “I’m not a big one for meeting new people.

“I’m not a big party person, I don’t really enjoy parties, people I socialise with tend to be people I’ve known for years, I stay in touch with people I’ve known from school and college.

“I had ethnic minority flatmates and some homosexuals, but they weren’t militant homosexuals, they don’t feel the need to make everybody know they’re homosexual.

“I’ve met plenty of homosexuals that I get on with and friends with and reason I get on with them is because they’re normal – militant homosexuality I cannot deal with, it gets on my nerves.' ...

From the news agency swns.com.

You may recall young Master Jack was having problems with his gay dog last month.

I wonder how long it will be til he comes out?

With thanks to Hope Not Hate - who list what else Renshaw's been doing at university - for the tip-off. x

BBC Autumn Highlights: Gay Porn And Propaganda

Brace yourself because a whole host of gay characters are about to hit your TV screen.

BBC drama boss Ben Stephenson – paid a staggering £247,800 per year, paid for by your TV Licence – has declared that he is making it his business to make his homosexual persuasion everyone else’s. *

The compulsory TV Licence for television owners in Britain goes entirely to the BBC. Are you happy paying for this kind of television?

From the BNP Facebook page.

Have to say I'm shocked to hear these racists cunts are still going.

The BBC will show gay porn on CBeebies!!
* This is a twisted version of a talk given six months ago.

"Anti-Fascism": On Badgers, The BNP & Benny Hill

Good to see that this story from International Business Times - that name again, International Business Times - summed up for so many people on Twitter how we should remember those protests against the BNP in London earlier.
And how handy that these young lady badgers are so fruity - they'll probably even be in the Mail and the Telegraph tomorrow.
"Now this IS England! RT" etc etc.
If only the Battle of Cable Street or the entire Spanish Civil War could have been visually summed up so easily - and so saucily.
Now, obviously, this actually happened and the "Far-right extremists [were] chased through London by women dressed as badgers" - presumably while many straight men played the Benny Hill theme tune in their imagination.
But in a world of smartphones, Twitter, and Instagram, there must be loads of people with photos of this crazy political chase taking place, yes?
So please send them in.

PS Call me an over-sceptic, maybe it did happen, but after a Twitterstorm like this I'd just like one bit of proof.
Thanks.

Pink News: Send 'Em Back!

If this “gang” want a bunch of EDL thugs turning up harrassing their parents and beating the crap out of them they’re going the right way about it. Muslim area? Not in the UK. They can jog on back home if they think that ANY part of the UK is a Muslim area. Get  them out of the country to some primitive, Islamic state such as Saudi Arabia or Iran. This is a country of supposed tolerance and this intolerance is unacceptable and needs to be stamped out. I wish these morons would go back to whatever hell hole they came from. They do not believe in Western civilized values and are intolerant of anyone who does not believe as they do. Thugs need to be put in jail and sent back to the desert. These anti gay groups who carry out hate crimes, need to be deported back to their own country. This is no place for anti gay attacks and if they cant respect progressive values and human rights then they should go home! Deport the filth at once. I’m afraid we are going to get more of this sort of behaviour from religious nutters what with the influx of more muslim extremists and catholics from Eastern Europe. I don’t want to sound like a UKIP troll but I am now fully convinved that masses of people who come from countries in which breaking 7th century laws (or advocating for their change) makes you and your life worthless (and often lands you in very hot water) is not the best idea if you want to keep Britain a liberal, secular place. This was happening in east london 10 years ago when I lived there. I moved out of east london because of muslims. Re the EDL, you have it wrong. They are not “thugs.” They have their own LGBT division.
https://www.facebook.com/EDL.LGBT.Division You should all join and help them protect you and everyone else.

Pink News Readers' Comments - posted after a news story about a video posted on YouTube which appears to show a group of young men in east London harassing a man for looking gay "in a Muslim area".
It looks like it's real; two men have now been arrested in connection with this and another video.
Some Muslims are homophobic, and some agressively so - I understand there are also some white Christians in this country who are also aggressively homophobic.
Some are stupid hate-filled bigots, but, as you can see from the above, so are some gay men.
And young men of all faiths and none, particularly when they're in groups, often act like bullying macho arseholes.
What's just as depressing is that the above comments read like they could have come from a BNP, EDL or Ukip message board - and that it's literally being used as part of an EDL recruitment campaign (I think some even worse ones have been deleted *).
Readers' comments aren't a reliable or representative guide to a website's readership or their beliefs - and whether on the Guardian or Daily Mail sites they tend to attract a disproportionate amount of scary nutters - but Pink News might want to think about if how it reports stories about Islam, Muslims and Arab and/or Muslim countries attracts people like this.

BNP/UKIP: Gay Bigots Left Reeling After Finding Out Their Bigoted Parties Are Riddled With Bigots

There has never been many openly gay members of the BNP, probably due to the huge amount of hatred and homophobia that exists within the BNP.
However, in recent years one gay BNP activist has emerged as a kind of unofficial spokesman for the small gay community within the British National Party.
Joshua Wren from Swansea has never hidden his sexuality from his fellow bigots in the BNP but now it seems the hatred directed towards him and the gay community has reached a point where even he can no longer stay within the party.
We have obtained a copy of a letter he penned yesterday to the BNP membership department announcing his immediate resignation from the party.
I reproduce the text in full [here]...

Hope Not Hate blog, yesterday.

Ukip youth leader Olly Neville sacked for supporting gay marriage

The leader of Ukip’s youth organisation has been stripped of his post by the party leadership, after expressing his support for gay marriage on national radio.

Olly Neville, who was appointed as chairman of Young Independence (YI) at the end of last year, was told by the party’s chairman that comments in support of gay marriage were “completely at odds with the party’s policy” and risked “seriously setting back the party’s current growth”...

The Independent.

As ever there's clearly more to this than meets the eye, but less than you can see.
Internecine party feuds are rarely about what they're said to be about. *
But anyway, I don't want to sound like a bigot, but I think anyone called "Joshua" or "Olly" sounds like a posh twat who should be taken out and shot.

* Edit: Apparently Olly is quite mad. Here's a piece he wrote called I Agree With Nick Griffin.

Update: Another right-wing careerist gayer wades in. Oh, give us guns.

Nick Griffin: University Challenged

On Friday, Leeds Student, the paper I edit, printed an interview with Nick Griffin, leader of the BNP. Later that day, the NUS published an open letter demanding that I remove the piece from our website immediately, arguing that fascists should not be granted a platform to express their political views.
The NUS claim that: "Leeds Student risks giving legitimacy to a fascist organisation, and boosts the BNP's attempts to join the political mainstream." Adding: "We... demand the editor of the Leeds Student reconsider this grave error and remove the interview with fascist Nick Griffin from their website and newspaper immediately."
During the speaker-phone interview, Griffin was as vile as you might expect. His responses prompted much outraged gesticulation within our paper offices as we all tried to stay quiet. He told our interviewer James Greenhalgh, who is a gay student, that the sight of two men kissing is "creepy".
Of course I considered the effect these comments could have on, say, a vulnerable, first-year student who is struggling to come to terms with their sexuality – and I mitigated this risk as much as possible. The interviewer spoke to LGBT committee members before printing, and we decided to include the fact that the interviewer is gay in the piece. We also wrote an editorial explaining why we believe it is important that student papers do not shy away from confronting extreme politics...

Lucy Snow, writing for Guardian Education.

I'm with Lucy Snow, for what it's worth.
The NUS has often taken a childish, censorious "no platform" position on free speech.
Although the interview was done in the wake of Griffin tweeting the addresses of the gay couple in the latest B&B case, it does seem odd/off that more than half of the interview is given over to his views on homosexuality.
I also would have liked it to be more hard-hitting - actually I'd much prefer it if he'd just smashed Nick Griffin's fugly face in with a shitty shovel* - but well done to James Greenhalgh for challenging this Neo-Nazi shitbag's attempts to windowdress his racist and homophobic views as the voice of moderate reason.

* Legal notice: This is a fantasy and not an incitement to violence. Fagburn is a pacifist along Gandhian lines. Thank you.

Barbara Ellen: Heterophobia

Does Nick Griffin really live in a dark parallel universe where heterophobia needs to hear the word "No"? Where straight-bashing is on the rise – innocent heterosexual men leaving pubs, to be confronted by hordes of pissed-up Marys in Kylie T-shirts swinging baseball bats, crying: "You women-fancying perverts are going to pay!"?
On Planet Griffin, are straight couples campaigning for the right to marry, straight parents frowned upon everywhere save for a few trendy London boroughs?
Moreover, are schoolchildren thoughtlessly taunting each other with slang such as: "That's just straight"? Are some of these children committing suicide rather than facing coming out as "non-gay"?
Is there is a culture in film and TV for there to be a token straight, who spouts straight cliches and affects straight mannerisms and has little else to do but be an amusing straight best friend for the lead gay characters to bounce off?

Barbara Ellen, The Observer.

Oh, Miss Babs, let me count the ways I love you. x

Christian Institute: We're Not The BNP At Prayer Honest!

From Christian Institute's laugh-a-minute website.
Fagburn loves the idea this implies that CI think this racist neo-Nazi shitbag has finally gone too far.
A plague on both your houses!

Equality: B&Bigotry Victory

A gay couple turned away from a bed and breakfast have said it "feels like a triumph" after a court ruled they were discriminated against.
Michael Black, 64, and John Morgan, 59, were told they could not have a double bed at the Berkshire business in March 2010.
The couple, from Brampton, near Huntingdon, were awarded £1,800 each at Reading County Court for "injury to feelings".

BBC News.
2-0!
Olé, Olé, Olé! etc etc.
And here's the website for the Swiss Bed & Breakfast in Berkshire.
Where "a warm & friendly welcome awaits all guests..."
Ha ha.

Update: BNP leader Nick Griffin has just tweeted Michael and John's home address in what sounds like an invitation to violence.
Cue TWITTER MELTDOWN!!!
What a cunt.
I hope people will tweet how Griffin was fucking the National Front leader Martin Webster in the 70s (Google it - or watch a secret filming of Webster talking about it here).

David Cameron: Butching Up Liberalism

"Frankly, we need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and a much more active, muscular liberalism. A passively tolerant society says to its citizens, as long as you obey the law we will just leave you alone. It stands neutral between different values. But I believe a genuinely liberal country does much more; it believes in certain values and actively promotes them. Freedom of speech, freedom of worship, democracy, the rule of law, equal rights regardless of race, sex or sexuality. It says to its citizens, this is what defines us as a society: to belong here is to believe in these things..."

David Cameron gave his speech at the Munich Security Conference today.
Wooh! - he said "or sexuality".
His tilting at "state multiculturalism" is a well-rehearsed riff of the Right.
Fagburn wonders if this "Muscular Liberalism" is meant to be analagous with Muscular Christianity - a new Victorian value?
Who knew what liberalism needed was a little butching up?
Much of Cameron's Munich speech would have gone down well if Cameron was addressing the English Defence League rally in Luton today.
It's been lauded on the BNP's website; 'Cameron’s ‘War on Multiculturalism’ Speech – Another Milestone in the ‘Griffinisation’ of British Politics'
Nick Griffin called it; "A further huge leap for our ideas into the political mainstream.”
Indeed, Cameron's "assimilate or else" message echoes the ideology of Europe's new far right anti-immigration parties, such as dead gay cunt Pim Fortuyn's List in the Netherlands.
Islamism has replaced homosexuality as the chief cultural bogeyman of the Conservative Party; further, respecting gay rights appears to be a new Cricket Test.
Not in my name, "Dave".
