Apologies for not covering this earlier.
I do now see its import, but my knowledge of the world of American Football is about as extensive as that of Chinese Opera.
Thought this recent (ish) tweet contextualised it rather well, so even an embittered cynical old queen like me finally gets it.

PS Let's just hope this great moment doesn't get hijacked by the rainbow-coloured sentimental gay puke brigade... TOO LATE!!!
Contexualised what rather well exactly? So it's bigots who don't want to particularly see two gay guys kissing? Correction: NO straight man wants to see two gay guys kiss; doesn't mean to say that he believes that they shouldn't be allowed to or discriminated against for it at all; just it turns a straight man's stomach to see two gay guys get it on.
ReplyDeleteThink you need to return to being a cynical old queen-maybe you'd start talking sense again.
I really thought that you'd understand that the only rights gay people have is to be not discriminated against for being gay; seems you've become daft enough to think that heterosexuals are going to somehow go 'aww' at two men kissing and agree that they are 'bigots' if they don't.
What nonsense.
I like the way you give a two word appraisal of your own comment at the end - useful.

You're right; I should have worded it better.
DeleteNot every straight man is repulsed by two men kissing, but a lot are.
Now is this repulsion worthy of the word bigot? I don't think so; people can FEEL how they like.
What makes for bigotry is when they try to stop other men kissing on account of their distaste.
Basically, Fagburn, other people have a right to feel repulsed by homosexuals kissing as long as they don't try to stop other consenting adults doing it.
Seems to me that tolerance and the notion of equality has now moved on to forcing others to accept something they personally have distaste for.
I don't like a lot of things, it's my right not to like them, as long as I don't stop others liking those things, where's the problem.
Or is it now compulsory to enjoy and go 'aww' at the sight of two men getting it on?
I pretty much agree with this.
DeleteBut the tweet was just a sentence suggesting an inter-racial gay kiss is every bigot's nightmare...

Or the look-at-me! look-at-me! I want to be included! Conformist gay puke pack-mentality brigade.

Tweets often take a short while to download.
DeleteHave you tried waiting all of 40 seconds?
Have I!
DeleteI left it to load while I read all seven volumes of À la recherche du temps perdu.
Came back... NUFFINK!
Try clicking on the Fagburn banner at the top then scrolling down.
DeleteAny happier????
Ooh, yes, that works! How bizarre.
DeleteI don't actually read Fagburn by going to your homepage anymore coz loading all the stories at once started crashing my computer so for the last few months I've had to read it by going from article to article.
I updated Firefox t'other day and it seems okay now, so anyhoo yeah...
Thanks!
Ah. I've reduced it to 25 posts a page now...
Deletewhat would be good to mention is michael sams achievement at being selected for the NFL which is the big thing..not the kiss or the crying, i have no real interesti n american football, but having an out player there is a big deal, and for a lot of americans it will bring a shift .on consciousness just because he's there..
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteLike I said I know nothing about the sports.
