Conchita: Tell Me What's Wrong...

The Advocate.

Who gives any credence to a stupid online petition?

I might start one now calling for you to be banned.

Oh, hang on, I just have!

It was a piece of piss - and quite utterly meaningless.

  1. Last time I checked, the grand total of people who had signed the Belarusian on-line petition was 4000. Hardly huge numbers for a country of 9 million. Interestingly, no word about how until yesterday that there were more Austrians (almost 39,000 of them) who liked the 'Nein zu Conchita Wurst' page than fans on the official Conchita Wurst page on Facebook. Oh, sorry me, it's only supposed to be the naughty countries to the east of Vienna that have a problem with drag. How quick we are supposed to forget that Ukraine sent a drag queen called Verka Serduchka to the 2007 Eurovision and came second - the same Verka Serduchka who was the headliner on the main Russian government-controlled TV station for the high-rating New Year's Eve programme in December. Or that Bulgaria's most popular pop star also happens to a bearded drag queen. But silly me, why let, you know, facts get in the way of a non-story.
