Peaches Geldof: Goodbye England's Rose!

Fagburn's thoughts are with a weeping world at this difficult time...

  1. I don't know how I will cope. I'm exhausted, having spent most of today tweeting and re-tweeting condolences, as is customary these days when someone you've never met dies. Meanwhile, 239 people on flight MH370 are missing presumed dead, the Hillsborough inquest is continuing and Reeva Steenkamp's parents sat in court listening to how their daughter was shot...

  2. I will certainly not forget her incredible journalistic knowledge when she presented an episode of Tonight (with Trevor McDonald) looking at fashion. Very deep.

    1. The travelogue she did on the funny foreigners was packed with insight.

  3. It's a little too easy to be this cynical. Yes, she was famous for being famous, as reflected by the media's difficulty in labelling her occupation.
However, she's still a mother of two very young children, an only recently-married wife, a daughter of a man who has already suffered from these sort of troubles before. It is genuinely very sad and thought the media coverage may be slightly overblown, it still illustrates it.
To the above poster, I would posit that I am capable of emotionally relating to several cases that are tragic and do not have to solely focus on one. I can be sad that Peaches Geldof died at 25 and that 239 people on flight MH370 are missing presumed dead. Maybe, I'm just sensitive.
