  1. Fischer stopped competing cause he was terrified of losing once he'd achieved his ultimate goal.
    Rimbaud probably dried up so started selling guns.
    Lawrence didn't completely 'walk away', did he?
    Wittgenstein: walked away from what???

  3. I think Cook and Fischer were both clearly a bit lost after reaching the top, as it were.
    I'm not sure Wilde had much choice in the matter.

    Does anyone even know why Rimbaud gave up??
