Strictly: Exclusive Nonsense

This is the Daily Star at its very best.

In the story we discover that Strictly has not actually agreed to let same-sex couples dance together, just that 'Gay Robin, 34, who joined the show four years ago, said: “I spoke to producers about having a same-sex couple competing."'

Oh and judge Craig Revel Horwood told the Star; 'Why not? I would love to see it.'

And didn't Gay Robin Windsor say much the same thing to Gay Times in June?

Mail Online: Heavy Lifting

Mail Online 'exclusive,' June 6th - a re-run of GT's interview
Mail Online's whole strategy is based on reproducing the work of every other media organisation in order to ensure that it becomes a one-stop shop for surfers.

To that end, its staff are required to scour every newspaper, magazine and website in order to copy off articles.

They do obey certain rules. The original source is credited fairly high up and most often there is also a hyperlink.

As far as Mail Online's editorial overlord, Martin Clarke, is concerned that covers him legally and ethically. He therefore rejects accusations of theft and of breaching copyright...

Several Mail Onliners have told me they hate doing it. ("I didn't come into journalism to rip off other journalists," one told me). But he, in company with others, pointed out that jobs are exceedingly hard to come by (and they are still paid more than most local and regional reporters and subs).

So they are, to an extent, being exploited in order to perform a task that exploits the work of other journalists. There, in a nutshell, is the nature of this shoddy enterprise.

Meanwhile, Mail Online thrives because it gets the clicks from people who are utterly disinterested in how it gathers its content. They merely consume it...

PS Don't write in and say this is basically what Fagburn does, like here for example.

GT: Crazy Times

Black men on the cover of a gay mag klaxon!

There goes the 'gayborhood' etc etc.

And all they had to do to qualify was appear on a TV talent show.

PS Congrats to GT for ignoring the World Cup and not running one of those page-filling 'Phwoar! 20 hottest footballers!' 'features'. [Edit: Oh fuck they have done something on the WC, pp 36-37. Gotta give that intern something to do].

The Sun.

If they get gaymarried will they be known as Marcus and Robin X-Factor-Strictly?

Marcus Collins: Newsflash

Well whoopie-doo!
You should get Max Clifford to push even more inane stories about you.
I guess the placing of this one is unrelated to the rumour Collins is about to be dropped by his record label?

Rehab: Friends

The chap on the left is James Ingham who writes the riveting Rehab column in The Daily Star.
Like so many of the best celebrity gossip columnists, it looks like he is a friend of Dorothy the stars!
Well done.

X Factor Final: Urgent Announcement

"Boycott the UK X Factor. It promotes homosexual ideals by showcasing an openly homosexual contestant flaunting his lifestyle."

GodsWordIsLaw (aka Keith) via Twitter.

Update: Predictably, Marcus's boyfriend of four years, David Heath, did not appear in his X Factor 'Friends & Family' video shown tonight.

Update 2: Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed Marcus Collins didn't win. But we were treated to a smashing version of Billy Joel's She's Always A Woman, which he dedicated to Gary Barlow his mother.

The X Factor: Harry's Game

"X FACTOR singer Marcus Collins has been exchanging flirty texts with The Only Way Is Essex star Harry Derbidge.

"Former hairdresser Marcus, a front-runner to win the show, has asked Harry to meet him for a drink to "get to know each other".

"Marcus began following Harry on Twitter and eventually the pair swapped numbers.

"Messages Marcus has sent him include: "Let's have a drink and get to know each other" and "Fancy hooking up? You crack me up on TOWIE."

"But Scouse singer Marcus has a long-term boyfriend — and brushed off the texts as "just having a laugh" with Harry..."

This gripping story is in The Sun so I guess it must be true.
It's an interesting sign of the times how the once hysterically homophobic Sun can report a story like this so matter-of-factly.
But as with this story in The Sun last month about how X Factor's Craig Colton and danyl Johnson "going out" (later denied) Fagburn can't help thinking they seem like PR stunts of the Max Clifford variety.
Ah well, at least gay stars don't have to "go out" with beards these days...

PS Can someone explain the speech ballon in The Sun's photomontage? Thanks.

Update: Much surprise on Twitter that Marcus sang 'My Girl' on The X Factor Motown special. Surely shome mistake?
