It's nice to see the crypto Tories running for the Labour Leadership falling over themselves to confirm that the Tories are right that Labour can't be trusted with the economy. They never mention that Thatcher's ideological obsession with the money supply made the early 80s recession much worse. It killed off huge swathes of manufacturing industry that would have been perfectly profitable had Thatcher not been doing her very best to handicap such industry with the most unfavourable economic conditions possible.
