The BBC thinks Christians who disagree with gay marriage are “throwbacks who are damaging the Church”, according to one of its presenters.
Roger Bolton also said if the BBC interviews a Christian who objects to abortion on religious grounds, “they are treated as though they are just a bit barmy”.
Mr Bolton was taking part in an official BBC Trust review of the breadth of opinion in the broadcaster’s output on various issues, including religion.
In an official report published by the Trust he said BBC journalists tend to see the gay marriage debate “in the context of equal rights”.Mr Bolton and others interviewed for the report “felt that conservatives on these subjects tend to be treated by interviewers as throwbacks who are damaging the Church and dragging it back into the past”.
The report stated: “The Corporation seems to some to be self-evidently sympathetic to the idea of gay marriage”.
Christian Institute.
Neglecting to mention that BBC News can't do an item on, say, equal marriage without interviewing an anti-gay Christian bigot for "balance".
And it ain't Auntie Beeb's fault if you all come across like swivel-eyed loons.
Bolton has form on outbursts like this, by the way.
Coverage of the report has concentrated on remarks about "liberal bias" on immigration.

Update: A mad American anti-gay Christian street preacher was arrested in Wimbledon yesterday, reports the Telegraph.
There's even a video - fun!
[Edit: Full video of him ranting and the arrest on the twat's YouTube page].
Couldn't they have just told him not to shout through his fucking loudhailer?

BBC: A Lunatic Speaks
The BBC and other broadcasters are dominated by a “liberal secular elite” whose “default position” is to assume that Christians are “lunatics”, a Radio 4 broadcaster warned last night.
Daily Telegraph.
Jesus Christ!
Religion is obsolete - get over it.
In an outspoken attack, Roger Bolton, a former presenter of the
station’s
Sunday programme, warned that those in charge of broadcasting suffered
from
a “suicidal” ignorance about religion.
He said the BBC was failing to meet its obligations as a public service
broadcaster to improve understanding of religion.
Mr Bolton, who presents Radio 4’s Feedback programme in which listeners
air
their views, said there was a growing view among the audience that
Christians in particular were being treated unfairly in comparison
with
other faiths...
Mr Bolton said Christian views, such as the Roman Catholic opposition to IVF or gay marriage, were too often dismissed as extreme without any attempt to understand them.
“There should at least be an effort to say that just because somebody is against gay marriage or against IVF doesn’t necessarily mean they are a lunatic – it is part of their belief, they have a genuine problem here with the legal authority or whatever – understand that position,” he said.
