    Oh dear. Once again you bring up Uganda, a propos of nothing, to have a snigger.

    Yes, yes, I know, the real problem re Uganda is 'hypocrisy', 'self-congratulatory gayers', 'colonialist mentality', 'the gay media', 'The Tories' etc. , and not the fact that gay people in Uganda now face life imprisonment.

    If you were an anti-gay rights activist you couldn't do any 'better' than you already do in your relentless rubbishing of and sneering at other gay people. You sanctimoniously lecture wankers like Paris Hilton for outing people while your own columns are full of predictable nudge nudge stuff, looking down your nose at gays who drool over boy bands while, er, drooling over boy bands yourself. Your self-awareness appears to have reached zero. No wonder your posts currently get virtually no comments.

    What's odd is that you seem to believe you are some kind of original-thinking authority on 'actual gay culture'. The only thing original about your 'bitter, begrudging, hypocritical, queen' act is that you seem to think it IS original and that you are doing something daringly outsiderish and positive, as opposed to just exceptionally hypocritical.

    Please, whatever is eating you, get a grip, Richard. You are capable of better stuff than this - as occasional posts on here show. Try writing something positive and constructive about something you actually like rather than constantly taking pot shots which might just as easily be made at yourself. Then this place would be worthy of interest again rather than sad head-shaking.

      No one is saying Peter Tatchell is beyond criticism. The question is, what is your constant stream of bile at other gay people and advocates for LGBT people meant to achieve? You jeer at people like Will Young or Dan Gillespie-Sells, who may be making fairly bland points but are at least trying to improve things for LGBT people, yet you cheer on the likes of Putin who are clearly doing the opposite. 'Self-hating gay' would seem to fir the bill, yet it's clear that for some thus far unexplained reason you have a very high opinion of yourself.

      What is it, exactly, that you think you are trying to achieve?

      Peter Tatchell is not beyond criticism. He is human and makes mistakes like anyone else. But Fagburn is not interested in constructive criticism. He just wants to sneer at everything Tatchell does and name call. Now, Fagburn’s acolytes are following his lead. Peter Tatchell doesn’t claim to be saving the world, so why does he deserve the derision of silly, bitchy queens?

      Fagburn said Bob Crow was a working class hero, hounded to death. Not exactly hounded to death, but vilified certainly. Though he did have a very nice salary and the support of the RMT, who weren’t constantly whining about him being too militant and giving transport workers a bad name. Peter Tatchell has probably been vilified more than Bob Crow, but as much by silly queens as right wingers. Gay Times actually awarded Tatchell the accolade of Disgrace of the Year. That says more about that dismal rag and its readership than Tatchell himself.

      Whilst Tatchell is getting his arse kicked by Russian Neo-Nazis or Mugabe’s minders, Fagburn’s sitting on his arse sniping at those essentially on the same side. Gramsci reading Fagburn is never wrong whilst other gays are mad, trivial, racist, naïve, bed wetters, arrogant, ridiculous, pearl clutchers, over sensitive, self righteous, superficial ...

      Re the piece in MRzine.
      Frankly, the article is long on invective and short on specific allegations. It doesn't strike me as credible. For example, I would find it very difficult to believe that Peter Tatchell jeopardised the safety of Ugandan Activists and I note that this is just an assertion without a single fact to support it.

      The only specific allegation seems to be that Outrage! called for a campaign against a proposed anti-gay Nigerian Law when LGBTI Human Rights Defenders advised that it would be better to let sleeping dogs lie. Again, this sounds like this particular group is miffed that Outrage! talked to another group in Nigeria. However, if it is true that Outrage! ignored the advice of a legitimate, respected local gay group that had been running the campaign against the law, that is reprehensible. Nevertheless, even if this happened there is not a hint that Peter Tatchell was involved and even if he were, I am not inclined to condemn him or Outrage! without hearing their side of the story.

      The question is why are you so quick to condemn Peter Tatchell ML? Why trawl the internet and produce a link to some rant, exclaiming "Here" without apparently giving a second thought to whether it is true or not? I cannot see why Peter Tatchell deserves your derision and I only hope that if you are ever in a situation where someone is ridiculing and accusing you, other people treat you more fairly than you seem prepared to do.

      BTW: I am not Tatchell's mother, so I'll have your balls please. I hope they are large and hairy, cos that's how I like 'em

      Incidentally, one of the links on the MRzine article is to a site called Black Looks that publishes an article by the Ugandan Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Constitutional Law giving guidance on how to campaign against Uganda's anti gay law. Peter Tatchell's website also contains a link to it.

      It is the most sensible thing I have read about the situation in the Uganda. Far from advising people in other countries to shut up, it states:

      We call upon all partners, friends and allies to organize demonstrations in different cities around the world now as this Act is set to have detrimental effects for all of us. We all MUST continue to speak out. These could include demonstrations at the Ugandan embassy in your country, or asking your place of worship to organize a vigil.

      It also suggests: Call on Multinational companies that have businesses in Uganda to go public about their concerns on the Act and their future economic engagements in Uganda. For example Heneiken, KLM, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, Barclays Bank, and other companies with important interests in Uganda and that already respect and value LGBT rights in their own internal policies, should note the risk that these laws pose for the safety of their own employees, as well as the impact on their brand image of continuing to do business in Uganda.

      In fact there are altogether 20 paragraphs of practical suggestions from Ugandans and sitting on your hands for fear of boosting Museveni's popularity isn't one of them

    The worst thing about this is that Ender's Game was really shit. Never getting that time back. At least Orson Scott Card's moronic political dribbling is amusing. This... this was garbage.
