Not Pope: Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero was the Archbishop of El Salvador.
When a right-wing military junta took power in 1979 he spoke out about disappearances, assassinations, state terror, torture, political repression, and poverty.
"Help the poor," he said.
He urged President Carter to end military aid to the junta. 
Of course, he didn't.
On March 23rd 1980 he called on soldiers to disobey orders that went against "God's higher order".
The following day, while celebrating mass in a hospital, he was assassinated.
Maybe this is the real lesson of Christianity?
Good men tend to get crucified.
