THE present and incoming archbishops of Glasgow were dragged into a fresh row over the Roman Catholic Church and homosexuality last night, after it emerged the former head of the college which trains Scots priests in Rome was allowed to keep his parish despite a drunken homosexual incident deemed "totally unworthy of a priest".Father Paul Milarvie was accused of "unwanted harassment" and trying to "constrain" a male guest at his parish house in 2010, just months after he returned to Scotland, leading to an investigation by the Archdiocese of Glasgow. Milarvie, a friend of Philip Tartaglia, the next archbishop of Glasgow, was allowed to keep his post by Mario Conti, the current archbishop.
News of the case, which emerged at the end of a week in which Tartaglia and Conti both spoke out against SNP plans to legalise same-sex marriage, prompted claims the Church was hopelessly confused in its attitude to homosexuality because it failed to reflect the reality of human nature...

Liam Fox: Flaunting It

A Scottish Catholic raised in an East Kilbride council house, he went from his state school to Glasgow University. There, he read medicine, won debating competitions and emerged as a Rightwing Conservative, resigning from the union after it recognised a gay and lesbian society.

First elected in north Somerset in 1992, he rebelled over the Maastricht Treaty, but was still given a job as a junior Foreign Office minister in the Major government. In that role he became involved in attempts to end Sri Lanka's civil war, brokering a settlement – never implemented – known as the Fox Plan.

Gregarious to a fault, stories of his social life are a staple at Westminster. In 2005, aged 44, he married Jesme Baird, a fellow medic and Glaswegian, and used the occasion to dismiss rumours that have dogged him.

"I know that some people use smears and I have heard them for years," he said. "They'd say, 'Why are you not married? You must be a playboy or a wild man or gay,' or whatever. Well, I'm getting married in December and I'm perfectly happy with my private life."

Dr Fox fought Mr Cameron for the Conservative leadership in 2005. He lost, but established himself as the robust champion of traditional Tory values. An unabashed discipline of Lady Thatcher – she was guest of honour at his 50th birthday last month – he does not pretend to embrace either the Prime Minister's modernisation of their party or the Coalition deal with the Liberal Democrats..."

When he resigned from his post at Glasgow University he said he did "not want the gays flaunting it in front of me, which is what they would do" [Quoted in The Sunday Herald].
Here's his voting record on gay legislation.
He's either voted against gay equality or been notable by his absence.
His relationship with his "best friend" (a 50 year-old man with a "best friend!) and former flatmate (who paid no rent!) Adam Werritty is completely and utterly corrupt.
When Liam Fox was shadow health secretary, Werritty ran a health consultancy firm.
When Fox became defence secretary - as if by magic - Werritty decided to make a sudden career change and started a defence consultancy.
Oh please!
As I've written before I have no idea if Dr Fox and Mr Werritty are actually fucking, but there's definitely some weirdy bromance/man-crush thing going on.
And while we may not know for certain that he's gay, we do know that he's homophobic.
Never mind resigning, I thought men like that shot themsleves.
