Go online the day after tomorrow and you will find the same three letters occurring again and again and again. The hashtag #MCM stands for “Man Crush Monday”, the weekly window of opportunity for everybody to post photos of the blokes they sort of fancy. And it really is everybody: women do it, but men join in, too, straight and gay, sharing pictures of athletes, actors, boy-band members, whoever...

But why are we doing this? Why are men telling the world that they have these… feelings… for other men, exploring an emotional state that until recently either didn’t exist or wasn’t really discussed? It’s not (necessarily) a question of sexual attraction, but rather an admission that you have unrequited wells of affection and admiration for another man. That you like what he’s about and what he represents...
