Anal Sex: A Beginner's Guide

Once a taboo, anal sex is now seen as an enjoyable addition to many sexual relationships. According to the National Survey of Attitudes and Lifestyles, the amount of people practising anal sex went up from 12 per cent in 1990 to 17 per cent between 2010 and 2012 for men, and from 11 per cent in 1990 to 15 per cent during that time for women.

So now your partner wants to give it a try. Perhaps they’ve tried it before and enjoyed it, or maybe it’s long been a fantasy of theirs (and maybe yours too). If so, you wouldn’t be alone - a study found that anal sex is a common sexual fantasy for 32 per cent of women and 64 per cent of men. On the other hand, some people have a very clear idea that anal sex isn’t for them, and that’s totally fine too as nobody should ever do anything that feels in any way coercive or uncomfortable...

The Independent - LOL! etc.

Fagburn sometimes wonders if the lessening of the taboo around bumsex has helped lessen male-male homophobia, or is it vice versa, or like chickens and eggs?

Fuck knows.

PS No, I don't understand the bizarro choice of stock photo, either. Maybe the article was about fisting and they decided to tone it down at the last minute?

Update: Anal seems to be in fashion.

Sex Tips For Gays: Fear Of Bumsex

I am a 28-year-old gay man. In previous relationships I was – mainly – the top. I have been with my current partner for two years and in this relationship I have only been the bottom, as my partner has a fear of it. I am very frustrated, and have contemplated cheating, which fills me with guilt. I love him very much, but feel as though we are incompatible on this basic level.

Find out what The Guardian's agony aunt, Pamela Stephenson Connolly, says here.

Though the UK's most liberal newspaper's readers' responses are fascinating.

One points out; 'Seriously, these comments are pathetic, theres a million articles on here about straight peoples bedroom problems, saying "eww" or making cheap jokes is exactly the problem of non direct homophobia, you are creating an atmosphere where gay men like myself feel unable to discuss relationship problems openly and this causes huge problems, especially in young people.

'Honestly if you have no advice and just commented here to crack a joke of make it clear how disgusted you are by gay men loving each other and being intimate then frankly you should be ashamed.'
