William Blum: America's Deadliest Export - Democracy

Blurb! "For over sixty-five years, the United States war machine has been on automatic pilot. Since World War II we have been conditioned to believe that America's motives in 'exporting' democracy are honorable, even noble. In this startling and provocative book, William Blum, a leading dissident chronicler of US foreign policy and the author of controversial bestseller Rogue State, argues that nothing could be further from the truth. Moreover, unless this fallacy is unlearned, and until people understand fully the worldwide suffering American policy has caused, we will never be able to stop the monster."

Book of the year already.
In your shops and online now.
Like Chomsky with the irony and withering sarcasm turned up to 11.

PS You might also consider signing up to Blum's monthly email-out, The Anti-Empire Report.

Gadaffi: Remarkable Lies

"Over the years, the American government and media have fed us all a constant diet of scandalous Gaddafi stories: He took various drugs, was an extreme womanizer, was bisexual, dressed in women's clothing, wore makeup, carried a teddy bear, had epileptic fits, and much more; some part of it may have been true. And now we have the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, telling us that Gaddafi's forces are increasingly engaging in sexual violence and that they have been issued the impotency drug Viagra, presumably to enhance their ability to rape.
Remarkable. Who would have believed that the Libyan Army had so many men in their 60s and 70s?"

From the always great Anti-Empire Report by one of Fagburn's most favourite writers, the amazing William Blum.
Thank you Bill for some sanity, reason - and humour - in these ridiculous times.
