Cosmo Landesman: Some Of My Best Friends Are dept.
'My gay friends are always keen to claim any distinguished public figure, past or present, as gay. Shakespeare? “Gay!” Cary Grant? “Gay!” Tom Cruise? “Gay!” Bruce Springsteen? “Gay!” (Sorry, boys, but that’s at least one gay too far...)
'Anyway, name your favourite writer, philosopher or politician, and out will come the cry of “Gay!” Yet mention J Edgar Hoover, the most powerful gay man of the 20th century, and what do you get? Silence...'
Cosmo Landesman talking crap in The Sunday Times, as per.
Gay men are hysterical, aren't they?
What with all their grabbing claiming 'They is all the gays!' stuff.
Nice of him to out Tom Cruise, though.
And if you think you get silence when you mention J Edgar Hoover to a gay man, you're profoundly deaf, dear.
Like a gayer hasn't just written a film about it - which you're reviewing!
Oh do fuck off.

J Edgar: Hoover 2
"He was a man of mystery," [Director Clint Eastwood] told ABC's "Good Morning America" last week. "He might have been [gay]. I am agnostic about it. I don't really know and nobody really knew."
ABC News asks the question we're all thinking;
J. Edgar Hoover: Gay or Just a Man Who Has Sex With Men?
Fagburn thinks a dude who has sex with another dude is probably a bit gay, but thanks for asking.
I wonder if Clint is similarly agnostic about Dustin Lance Black?

J Edgar: Hoover
Looks like it's Bring Your Kid To Work Day over at The Independent On Sunday.
They got a breathless six year-old to write about Clint Eastwood/Dustin Lance Black's new biopic J Edgar.
Someone called Guy Adams asks titularly;
'Is Clint Eastwood intent on outing John Edgar Hoover?'
Bit late for that.
"There are growing signs that the film will focus intently on suggestions that its supposedly conservative subject was in fact a closet gay."
Little signs like scriptwriter Lance Black saying; "It’s a suspense-filled cautionary tale of a closet case with supreme political power", perchance?
Snore!
