Sunday Times: Big Hugs!

Modern middle-class men are not content with shaking hands with our friends; it feels stiff, formal and a bit old-fashioned. We like to show our affection with a more passionate meeting of chests. Those chaps who don’t want to be considered gay make this clear by beating down on their fellow huggers’ backs with their hands and playing them like a drum which, if you’re being hugged by a proper homophobe, can hurt a bit.
